Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.2

GPA, above 3 of the 79 other project management tools we grade

Scoro is a professional services automation platform for consultancies, agencies, and IT, architecture and engineering firms. It is sold as eight core apps covering tasks, projects, time tracking, resource planning, CRM, estimating, expenses and invoicing; a customer picks a combination and pays per user for it. Every combination requires at least five users, and there is no free plan.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Scoro, taken from its own pages and our grades.

  1. 1

Best for service firms that quote, deliver and bill in one

Scoro runs a service firm's quotes, projects, time, resourcing and invoices in one system, sold as eight apps you mix and match.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $17 a month for each person

As its pricing page puts it: $17 per user / month, billed annually (5-user minimum).

  3. 3

    You can try it first

14-day free trial, no credit card required

  4. 4

    It runs on 3 platforms

    Web, iOS and Android.

  5. 5

    Eight combinable core apps

Do, Deliver, Track, Resource, Sell, Estimate, Spend and Invoice share one data model. The platform fee includes two apps, and apps can be added or removed after subscribing.

  6. 6

    Projects with Gantt chart

The Deliver app covers project templates, phases and milestones, a Gantt chart with dependencies, a multi-project timeline and retainer management.

  7. 7

    Tasks and Kanban board

The Do app handles tasks and task lists, subtasks, recurring tasks, task bundles, a Kanban board, calendars and a smart inbox.

  8. 8

    A 2.2 GPA, above 3 of 79

That is against the other project management tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

The plain part of Scoro you could make: tasks, kanban boards, Gantt & timelines, time tracking, invoicing, sales pipeline and reports. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

The report card

Best for service firms that quote, deliver and bill in one

Scoro runs a service firm's quotes, projects, time, resourcing and invoices in one system, sold as eight apps you mix and match. Prices start at $17 a user for two apps and climb to $57 for the lot, with a 5-user minimum and no free plan. Some add-ons and integrations cost extra, single sign-on is on the Enterprise platform only, and teams over 15 are steered to onboarding packages.

SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyDThis is the dear end of the category and then some. The cheapest combination is $17 a user a month, twice the $8 middle, and that's only time tracking and invoicing. Tasks, projects and resourcing together are $29, all eight apps $57, and nothing under 5 seats.
Free plan and trialCNo free plan. You get 14 days with no credit card asked for, and after that every combination needs at least 5 paid seats, so the smallest bill is a real one.
FeaturesBIt covers the whole job: tasks with a Kanban board, projects with a Gantt chart and dependencies, time tracking, resource bookings, sales, quotes with margin planning, expenses and invoicing, on one set of data. Productive and Avaza, its own named rivals, do much the same.
Ease of useCNo store rating on record, and there's real setting up: you pick which of the eight apps to buy before you begin, then wire in the money side. Free self-onboarding stops at 15 people, and bigger teams are pointed at onboarding packages run by Scoro's experts.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, iPhone and Android, with Xero, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Salesforce, HubSpot, Jira, Google Calendar and Zapier, plus an API and an MCP server on both platforms. No desktop app, which is what holds it to a B. Some integrations cost extra, mind.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Scoro is for

  • Fits if you're a consultancy or agency of 5 or more that quotes, delivers and bills in one system
  • Works for firms tracking margin, utilization and revenue per project

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if there are fewer than five of you, because every combination needs at least 5 seats
  • Pricey if you want the lot, at $57 a user a month for all eight apps, and $17 buys only time tracking and invoicing
  • Not for you if you need single sign-on or SCIM on the Standard platform, as both are Enterprise only
  • Watch out: the per-user price rises with each app you add, and some add-ons and integrations cost extra
  • Watch out: free self-onboarding stops at 15 people, and larger teams are pointed to onboarding packages

Good to know

Good for

  • Consultancies and agencies that quote, deliver and bill in one system
  • Firms that want to start with a few apps and add more later
  • Teams tracking margin, utilization and revenue per project

Worth knowing

  • There is no free plan, and every combination requires at least 5 user seats.
  • The per-user price rises with each app added, from $17 for two apps to $57 for the End-to-end combination, and some add-ons and integrations cost extra.
  • Single sign-on and SCIM user provisioning are only on the Enterprise platform, not the Standard one.
  • Free self-onboarding is offered only to teams of up to 15 people; larger teams are directed to onboarding packages run by Scoro's experts.

It stands best on features (B, above 27 of 79) and worst on value for money (D, above 0).

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of Scoro you could make: tasks, kanban boards, Gantt & timelines, time tracking, invoicing, sales pipeline and reports. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 60 of the 79 other project management tools grade higher. It costs $204 a year.

What you could make

  • Tasks, kanban boards, Gantt & timelines, time tracking, invoicing, sales pipeline and reports: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
  • It plugs into other products, Xero, QuickBooks and Sage Intacct among them.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Scoro’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
