Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 2 of the 14 other tools for selling digital products we grade

Sellfy is a hosted store builder for creators who sell digital downloads, subscriptions, physical goods and print-on-demand merch from one storefront or from buy buttons on another site. It takes no cut of sales: plans are priced by how much you sell in a year, and payments go straight to your own Stripe or PayPal account.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Sellfy, taken from its own pages and our grades.

And you can't sell anything until you pay.

The report card

Best for a flat-fee store for downloads and merch

Sellfy is a tidy store for downloads, subscriptions and print-on-demand merch, with email campaigns built in and no cut of your sales. The catch is the yearly sales caps: sell $1,000 a month and you've outgrown Starter, so it's really $59 a month. And you can't sell anything until you pay.

ToolGPA report cardSellfyGraded Oct 18, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCStarter's $10k yearly cap is less than a year of $1,000 a month, so you'd be on Business at $59 a month billed yearly, with no cut of sales: $59. That's above this category's dearer quarter but short of its dearest tenth. Stripe or PayPal fees come on top and aren't counted.
Free plan and trialCNo free plan. The 14-day trial needs no card, but it only lets you build the store, since selling needs a paid plan from $22 a month.
FeaturesBDownloads, subscriptions, physical goods and print-on-demand merch in one store, email campaigns built in, PDF stamping and download limits. Nothing's missing from the core job; upsells, cart recovery and affiliates just wait for Business.
Ease of useCNo App Store rating on record. You don't need a website, but you're still picking a template, building the store and connecting Stripe or PayPal before anything sells.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb only, with Stripe, PayPal, Zapier, Google Analytics, Google Merchant Center, Facebook Ads and Wix, plus buy buttons for any site. No phone or desktop app is listed.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Sellfy is for

  • Great if you sell files, subscriptions and merch and want them all in one store
  • Good for YouTubers and social sellers who don't have a website
  • Handy when you'd rather pay a flat monthly fee than lose a cut of every sale

Who it is not for

  • Tight if sales are climbing, as each plan caps yearly sales at $10k, $50k or $200k
  • Skip it if you want sales tax filed for you, since Sellfy isn't the merchant of record
  • Pricey if you want upsells or affiliates, which start on Business at $59 a month

Good to know

Good for

  • Creators who sell files, subscriptions and merch from one store
  • Sellers who would rather pay a flat fee than a cut of every sale
  • YouTubers and social sellers who want a store without a website

Worth knowing

  • No free plan: the 14-day trial lets you build a store, but selling needs a paid plan from $22 a month.
  • Plans cap yearly sales at $10k, $50k and $200k; above the cap Sellfy asks you to upgrade and may charge 2% on the overage.
  • Stripe or PayPal processing fees (typically 2.9% + 30 cents) come on top, and Sellfy is not the merchant of record.
  • Upsells, cart abandonment, affiliates and removing Sellfy branding all start on Business at $59 a month billed annually.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Sellfy you would be making checkout, card payments and sales tax handled for you. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 9 of the 14 other tools for selling digital products grade higher. It costs $10 a year.

What you could make

  • Digital downloads: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • Checkout, card payments and sales tax handled for you.
  • Printers that make and ship each order.
  • Newsletters sent to thousands of people that still reach the inbox.
  • Every click and sale traced back to the right partner.
  • It plugs into other products, Stripe, PayPal and Zapier among them.
  • Hooks into the device itself: widgets.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Sellfy’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
