Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.6
GPA, above 48 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade
Snaptick is a free, open-source daily task planner for Android. Tasks are set with start and end times or as all-day items, can repeat and carry reminders, and show up in a calendar view, alongside a built-in pomodoro timer and a free-time screen. The app has no ads and needs no registration, and it is installed from GitHub Releases or the IzzyOnDroid repository.
To get you started, here are 8 things to know about Snaptick, taken from its own pages and our grades.
Skip it if you have an iPhone or plan on a laptop.

- 2
It is free
Snaptick has no paid plan at all. The whole app is free, ad-free and open source under the GPL-3.0 license, with no paid version. The developer takes donations through Ko-fi, Buy Me a Coffee, PayPal and a crypto donation link.

- 4
Timed and all-day tasks
Tasks are created with a start and end time or as all-day items, given a priority, and sorted by options such as priority. Tasks that run past midnight are supported.
- 5
Pomodoro timer
A pomodoro timer runs for one task at a time as a foreground service, so it keeps counting after the app is closed and stops when its task is completed or deleted.
- 6
Reminders and repeating tasks
Each task can carry up to 4 reminders with custom offsets, and repeating tasks send a notification on the days they recur. A reminder notification can start a pomodoro.

The report card
Best for a free, ad-free day planner on Android
Snaptick is a free, open-source daily planner for Android where each task gets a start and end time and a pomodoro timer runs alongside. But it's Android only, you install it from GitHub or IzzyOnDroid since the Google Play link was removed, and nothing syncs between devices beyond backup and restore. Skip it if you have an iPhone or plan on a laptop.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | A | Free, ad-free and open source under the GPL-3.0, with no paid version anywhere and only a donations link. Rivals in this category want $2.42 to $5.00 a month for a planner with a timer in it. |
| Free plan and trial | A | The whole app, with no registration and no paid tier to hold anything back: timed tasks, four reminders each, repeats, the pomodoro timer, the calendar view, the widget and backups. |
| Features | C | It does a single day properly: start and end times, all-day items, priorities, up to 4 reminders a task, repeats, a calendar view, a pomodoro timer that survives closing the app, and a free-time screen. But there's no cloud sync, only backup and restore, and no projects or lists to speak of. |
| Ease of use | C | No rating on record, and getting hold of it is the hard part: the README offers an APK from GitHub Releases or the IzzyOnDroid repository, with the Google Play link removed in version 3.1. Once it's on, you open it and add a task. |
| Platforms and integrations | D | One operating system: Android 8.0 or later, with no iOS, desktop or web version and no integrations listed. Mirroring tasks to a calendar on the phone and importing an .ics file is as far as it reaches. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Snaptick is for
- Fits if you plan your day in time slots and want a pomodoro timer in the same app
- Works for Android users who already install apps from IzzyOnDroid or GitHub and want no ads or account
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you have an iPhone or want your tasks on a laptop, as it's Android 8.0 or later only
- Not for you if you only install from Google Play, because the link there was removed in version 3.1
- Too light for anyone with two devices, since there's no cloud sync, only backup and restore
- Watch out: the update checker contacts GitHub, which IzzyOnDroid flags as a non-free network dependency
- Too light for projects or lists, and it connects to nothing beyond a phone calendar and .ics import
Good to know
Good for
- Android users who want a free daily planner without ads
- Planning a day as timed tasks and working through them with a pomodoro timer
- People who prefer open-source apps installed from outside Google Play
Worth knowing
- Android only, version 8.0 or later; there is no iOS, desktop or web version.
- The README offers downloads from GitHub Releases and IzzyOnDroid only; the changelog records the Google Play link being removed in version 3.1.
- The README and release notes describe no account or cloud sync between devices; task data is moved with the backup and restore feature.
- The in-app update checker contacts GitHub, which the IzzyOnDroid listing flags as a dependency on a non-free network service.

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
Snaptick is free, so making your own would save you nothing.
What you could make
- Tasks, Pomodoro timer and calendar: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- A real app for Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- Hooks into the device itself: widgets.
