Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.6

GPA, above 42 of the 79 other project management tools we grade

Stackfield is an all-in-one collaboration and project management tool from Germany, aimed at organizations that handle sensitive data. Its rooms combine team chat, tasks with kanban and Gantt views, pages, file storage and calls, and content is end-to-end encrypted in the browser before it reaches servers located in Germany. It is sold as a cloud service and, for 100 users or more, as an on-premise version.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Stackfield, taken from its own pages and our grades.

The cloud version is at least hosted, and the encrypting happens quietly in the browser.
From our grade for ease of use

  6. 6

    Project planning

Gantt timelines with dependencies, milestones, baselines, auto-scheduling and a critical path come with every plan. Portfolios and PERT charts need Premium.

The report card

Best for teams with sensitive data that must stay in Germany

Stackfield is a German project and team chat tool that puts chat, tasks, files and calls in rooms and encrypts the content in your browser before it reaches servers in Germany. That's the reason to pick it. There's no free plan, only a 14-day trial, prices are in euros before VAT, Starter stops at 10 users and 3 rooms, and whiteboards and group calls wait for Premium at €18 a user.

ToolGPA report cardStackfieldGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyDStarter is €9 a user a month paid yearly and stops at 10 users and 3 rooms. Outgrow either and Business is €14 for the same features, roughly double the $8 middle for project tools here, and whiteboards and group calls wait for Premium at €18. Prices exclude VAT.
Free plan and trialCNo free plan. The trial is 14 days with the Premium feature set and no credit card, and it ends by itself, so there's nothing to cancel.
FeaturesAIt covers the whole job and does something its rivals don't: tasks as a list, kanban board, Gantt chart or calendar with dependencies, baselines and a critical path on every plan, plus chat, calls, wiki pages, versioned files, time tracking and reports, all end-to-end encrypted in the browser.
Ease of useCNo store rating on record, and rooms don't build themselves: each one bundles chat, tasks, pages and files, so somebody decides how work is carved up before anyone starts. The cloud version is at least hosted, and the encrypting happens quietly in the browser.
Platforms and integrationsAThe full set: web, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, with Microsoft Teams, Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive and Box, and a developer API. There's an on-premise version as well, from 100 users.
Grade point averageGood, out of 4.02.6

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Stackfield is for

  • Fits if your data has to stay encrypted on servers in Germany, as at a law firm, bank or public body
  • Works for teams that want chat, tasks, files and calls in one tool and can pay €14 a user for unlimited rooms

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you want a free plan, because there's only a 14-day trial
  • Tight if you're on Starter at €9 a user, which stops at 10 users and 3 rooms
  • Pricey if you need group video calls, whiteboards, portfolios or unlimited externals, which start on Premium at €18 a user
  • Watch out: AI text tools and simultaneous Office editing are paid add-ons, and prices are in euros before VAT
  • Not for you if you want it on your own servers with fewer than 100 users, as on-premise has a 100-user minimum

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Stackfield you would be making chat that a whole team counts on staying up. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

It costs $121.02 a year.

What you could make

  • Tasks, kanban boards and Gantt & timelines: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Chat that a whole team counts on staying up.
  • Video calls.
  • Apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
  • It plugs into other products, Microsoft Teams, Dropbox and OneDrive among them.
  • End-to-end encryption done properly.
  • The depth: we grade its features A, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Stackfield’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
