Best for Google rank tracking at very large scale

STAT is Moz's web rank tracker for agencies and big brands. It saves the full Google results page for every keyword each day and tracks your brand in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude, with the API and BigQuery included. But it starts at $360 a month, there's no pricing page, free plan or trial, only a demo, SERP archives and Google ads data cost extra, and Google is the only engine it names.

Who STAT Search Analytics is for

  • Fits if you track tens of thousands of keywords across many markets
  • Works for analysts who want raw results-page data in their own warehouse

Who STAT Search Analytics is not for

  • Pricey if you're a small site, as tracking starts at $360 a month for 3,000 keywords
  • Not for you if you want to look around first, since there's no pricing page, free plan or trial, only a demo
  • Skip it if you need Bing or YouTube rankings, as its tracking pages only describe Google
  • Watch out: daily keywords and weekly AI prompts share one quota, so prompts eat into your keyword count
  • Watch out: a daily SERP archive for your site and Google ads data are paid add-ons, and there's no phone app

Why STAT Search Analytics gets a 1.6

Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.

  • DValue for moneyTracking starts at $360 a month for 3,000 daily keywords or weekly prompts, sold after a demo. That's well into this category's dearest tenth, which starts at $139. The API, BigQuery and Data Studio connectors are included rather than extra, which is why it isn't lower.
  • FFree plan and trialNothing free. There's no free plan or trial, just a one-on-one walkthrough before the plan is set up.
  • CFeaturesDaily Google rankings anywhere, on desktop and mobile, with full results-page HTML, 75+ SERP feature types, pixel data, share of voice and AI brand tracking. The gap: its tracking pages name no search engine other than Google.
  • CEase of useNo rating on record. It's set up with you after a walkthrough, and the tags, segments and share of voice reports take learning before they pay off.
  • BPlatforms and integrationsWeb only, with no desktop or phone app. An API is included with every plan, plus Data Studio and BigQuery connectors and keyword ideas from Moz Keyword Explorer.

Keep STAT Search Analytics, or make your own?

Keep it

To replace STAT Search Analytics you would be making search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 37 of the 39 other rank trackers grade higher. It costs $4,320 a year.

What you could make

  • Reports: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • Search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date.
  • Daily checks of where your pages rank in search results.
  • The same prompts asked of ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI answers every day, and the answers kept.
  • It plugs into other products, Looker Studio, Google BigQuery and Moz Keyword Explorer among them, and has an API.

What this rests on. STAT Search Analytics’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
