Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

3.0

GPA, above 34 of the 42 other time tracking apps we grade

Timesheet is time tracking software from a small Vienna company that began as an Android app. Timers start on a phone, watch or browser, or automatically from a location, a Wi-Fi network or an NFC tag, and the hours feed reports, exports and PDF invoices. Paid team plans add a web app, an AI assistant that logs time from chat, and HR rules for contracts, working-time limits, absences and overtime.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Timesheet, taken from its own pages and our grades.

No store rating on record, but there's little to set up: one tap starts a timer and it keeps running in the background.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for phone-first tracking that starts by itself

Timesheet is a phone-first time tracker whose timers can start when you arrive somewhere, join a Wi-Fi network or tap an NFC tag, all on the free plan for one person.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $4.50 a month when paid by the year

As its pricing page puts it: $5 per month, or $54 per year (Plus, single user).

  3. 3

    There is a free plan

Basic plan for one person: the mobile app with unlimited time tracking and projects, breaks, expenses, tags, basic statistics and Excel or CSV export. No cloud sync, web app or team features.

  4. 4

    It runs on 4 platforms

Android, iOS, Web and macOS, with a browser extension too.

  5. 5

Timers on phone, watch and browser

Android and iOS apps start a timer in one tap and keep it running in the background, with breaks, expenses, tags and custom rates on every plan. A browser extension is also offered.

  6. 6

    Location, Wi-Fi and NFC automation

Timers can start and stop from geofence rules, a detected Wi-Fi network or an NFC tag, for when a manual timer is easy to forget. All three are included in the free plan.

  7. 7

    Reports and exports

Daily, weekly and monthly reports break time down by project, task, client and income. Data exports to Excel and CSV on every plan, with PDF reports alongside.

  8. 8

    A 3.0 GPA, above 34 of 42

That is against the other time tracking apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

The report card

Best for phone-first tracking that starts by itself

Timesheet is a phone-first time tracker whose timers can start when you arrive somewhere, join a Wi-Fi network or tap an NFC tag, all on the free plan for one person. But Basic has no sync, Plus at $5 a month adds only sync, and the web app, invoices, teams and API need Pro at $10 a user. HR rules cost $20 on Business, VAT is extra, and teams over 50 must move to Enterprise at $35.

ToolGPA report cardTimesheetGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCPlus is $5 a month, or $54 a year, for one person, and all it adds is cloud backup and sync. Anything you'd really want, the web app, PDF invoices, teams and the API, is Pro at $10 a user, and the HR rules are Business at $20. VAT goes on top.
Free plan and trialBBasic is free for one person on the mobile app, with unlimited time tracking and projects, breaks, expenses, tags, Excel and CSV export, and the geofence, Wi-Fi and NFC automation included. A solo freelancer could live there, as long as one phone is enough: there's no cloud sync.
FeaturesBTimers on phone, watch and browser, starting and stopping by location, Wi-Fi or NFC tag, with reports by project, task and client. From Pro, PDF invoices tracked by payment status and an assistant that logs time from chat; Business adds contracts, working-time limits, absences and overtime.
Ease of useBNo store rating on record, but there's little to set up: one tap starts a timer and it keeps running in the background. Set a location or Wi-Fi rule once and you don't even need the tap.
Platforms and integrationsAAndroid, iOS, a Mac app that records app usage, a browser extension and a web app. Google Calendar, Zapier, QuickBooks, Basecamp and Telegram connect, and there's an API. The web app and the API both wait for Pro, mind.
Grade point averageVery good, out of 4.03.0

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Timesheet is for

  • Fits if you track on your phone and want the clock to start by location, Wi-Fi or an NFC tag
  • Works for employers who record hours, breaks and overtime against contracts, on Business

Who it is not for

  • Tight if you stay on Basic with two devices, because there's no cloud sync, and Plus at $5 a month adds only that
  • Pricey if you need the HR rules, at $20 a user a month on Business, plus VAT
  • Not for you if you want to work in a browser for free, as web access starts on Pro at $10 a user
  • Watch out: Pro and Business stop at 50 users, and Enterprise, for up to 200, costs $35 a user
  • Skip it if you want invoices or the API on a one-person plan, since both start on Pro

Good to know

Good for

  • Freelancers who track on a phone and want a free plan with exports
  • Small teams that turn tracked hours into PDF invoices
  • Employers that record hours, breaks and overtime against contracts
  • Clocking in automatically by location, Wi-Fi network or NFC tag

Worth knowing

  • Basic and Plus are for one person; Basic has no cloud sync or multi-device support, and web app access starts on Pro.
  • Invoices, team features, API access and the AI assistant need Pro at $10 per user a month.
  • Pro and Business are limited to 50 users, and Enterprise to 200.
  • Prices are net: the pricing page says applicable VAT is added at purchase.

It stands best on platforms and integrations (A, above 24 of 42) and worst on value for money (C, above 8).

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of Timesheet you could make: time tracking, invoicing and reports. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.0 is higher than 34 of the 42 other time tracking apps we grade. It costs $54 a year.

What you could make

  • Time tracking, invoicing and reports: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Apps for macOS, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • It plugs into other products, Google Calendar, Zapier and QuickBooks among them, and has an API.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Timesheet’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
