Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.8
GPA, above 4 of the 11 other event ticketing platforms we grade
Tito is an event registration and ticketing platform used mostly by technology, developer and business conferences, workshops and meetups. Organizers sell through a hosted event page or a checkout widget embedded on their own site, and check people in with iOS, Android or web apps. There is no subscription: Tito takes a percentage of each paid ticket, and free events cost nothing.
To get you started, here are 8 things to know about Tito, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for tech conferences and meetups
But you can't pass that fee to buyers, it's billed in euros, and there's no seating or door sales on record.
- 2
It is free
Tito has no paid plan at all. No subscription or setup fee, and every feature is included. Free events cost nothing; paid tickets cost 3% each (2.5% for charity, nonprofit and community events) plus Stripe or PayPal fees.
- 3
It runs on 3 platforms
Web, iOS and Android.
- 4
Embeddable checkout widget
Two lines of code put the full checkout on your own site; the ticket list is injected as HTML rather than an iframe, so it can be styled with your own CSS.
- 5
Event pages and dashboard
Hosted event pages, team accounts with control over who sees financial data, sales reports, custom attendee questions and exports to CSV.
- 6
Check-in apps
Native iOS and Android apps, or a web app on any device, scan QR codes or search attendees by name on the day.
- 7
A 2.8 GPA, above 4 of 11
That is against the other event ticketing platforms we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 8

Tito is free, so making your own would save you nothing.

The report card
Best for tech conferences and meetups
Tito is the ticketing developers and conference people tend to like: a checkout you put on your own site with two lines of code, a full API, and check-in apps for the day. You pay 3% of each paid ticket and nothing else. But you can't pass that fee to buyers, it's billed in euros, and there's no seating or door sales on record.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B | 3% of each paid ticket, so 200 tickets at $20 costs you $120 a month, with Stripe or PayPal fees on top that we haven't counted. You pay it, since Tito won't add it for buyers, and it's billed in euros. Still one of the cheapest here at this size. |
| Free plan and trial | A | No subscription or setup fee, and every feature is included whatever you sell. Free events cost nothing, so a meetup that never charges never pays a thing. |
| Features | C | Embedded checkout, waitlists, secret and invoice tickets, discount codes, pages in 15 languages and check-in apps cover a conference well. But there's no reserved seating or selling at the door on record, and the fee can't be passed to buyers. |
| Ease of use | C | No App Store rating on record. You connect Stripe or PayPal and build an event page, and putting the checkout on your own site takes a snippet of code: easy for developers, less so for everyone else. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web, plus iPhone and Android check-in apps, with Stripe, PayPal, Google Tag Manager, Facebook, webhooks and a full read and write API. No desktop app, which an A needs. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Tito is for
- Great if you run a tech or developer conference and want checkout on your own site
- A treat if you're a developer who wants a full API and webhooks
- Good for charity and community events, which pay 2.5% instead of 3%
Who it is not for
- Not for you if you want buyers to pay the booking fee on top of the ticket
- Skip it if you need reserved seats or sales at the door
Good to know
Good for
- Tech, developer and B2B conferences, workshops and meetups
- Organizers who want to embed checkout on their own site
- Developers who want a full API for registrations
Worth knowing
- Tito keeps 3% of each paid ticket (2.5% for charity and community events), capped at €25 a ticket, plus Stripe or PayPal fees (2.9% + 30¢ with Stripe in the US).
- Fees cannot be passed to buyers as a separate booking fee; Tito suggests building them into the ticket price.
- Tito's fees are charged in euros: taken from each Stripe or PayPal payment, or billed monthly to a card for pay-by-invoice tickets.
- Tito Pro, a separate white-label product for invitation-only events, starts at €99 a month and has a waiting list.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
Tito is free, so making your own would save you nothing.
And it is not the kind of software a weekend replaces.
What you could make
- Reports: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- Selling tickets and checking them at the door.
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- It plugs into other products, Stripe, PayPal and Google Analytics among them, and has an API.
- Hooks into the device itself: widgets.
What this rests on. Tito’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
