Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.4
GPA, above 8 of the 14 other customer review tools we grade
Yotpo is a product review platform for online stores, from small Shopify shops to large brands on Salesforce Commerce Cloud or Adobe Commerce. Reviews & UGC collects reviews, photos and videos after a purchase, shows them on product pages and sends ratings to Google, while Loyalty & Referrals is a separate product. Both are priced by monthly orders, and the Premium and Enterprise tiers are quoted by sales.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Yotpo, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1

Yotpo does product reviews for everyone from a small Shopify shop to big brands on Salesforce Commerce Cloud or Adobe Commerce, with photo and video reviews, Google ratings and a loyalty product alongside.
- 2

As its pricing page puts it: $15 per month for up to 99 orders, billed monthly.
- 3
There is a free plan

- 4
It runs on Web
Web.
- 5
Automatic review requests
Sends review requests after each order with email and SMS reminders on every plan; paid plans add manual requests to past shoppers and a drag-and-drop email editor.
- 6
Photo and video reviews
Starter and up collect photos and videos with reviews and can reward reviewers with coupons. Visual UGC galleries from Instagram are an annual add-on on Pro.
- 7
Google ratings
Sends reviews to Google as rich snippets and Shopping ad ratings; Pro adds Google Seller Ratings for the whole store.

The report card
Best for product reviews for stores beyond Shopify
Yotpo does product reviews for everyone from a small Shopify shop to big brands on Salesforce Commerce Cloud or Adobe Commerce, with photo and video reviews, Google ratings and a loyalty product alongside. It's priced by orders, though, so the bill climbs as you sell: a 300-order shop pays $89 a month on Starter, and AI summaries and Q&A wait for Pro.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | A 300-order shop lands on Starter at $89 a month, billed monthly. Set against its listed rivals at that size, that's toward the dear end without being the dearest. Google Seller Ratings, AI summaries and Q&A start at Pro, from $119 at the smallest size, and loyalty is billed apart. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Free up to 50 orders a month, with automatic requests, the reviews widget and profanity checks. But there are no photo or video reviews, you can't remove Yotpo's branding, and a shop doing 300 orders is well past it. |
| Features | B | The whole job: automatic requests with email and text reminders, photo and video reviews, rich snippets, Google Shopping, Seller Ratings, AI summaries and sorting, Q&A, moderation and coupons for reviewers. Retail syndication and a loyalty product sit on top. |
| Ease of use | C | No store rating on record. Requests go out automatically once it's connected, but you pick a plan by order volume, set up the emails and widgets, and the bigger tiers come through sales. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web, on Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Adobe Commerce and Salesforce Commerce Cloud, with Klaviyo, Attentive and Gorgias and a public API. That's wider than most rivals here. No phone or desktop app is listed. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Yotpo is for
- Great if you sell on BigCommerce, WooCommerce or Salesforce, not just Shopify
- Handy when you expect to add points and referrals later from the same company
- Good for stores that want Google Seller Ratings built from their own reviews
Who it is not for
- Pricey if your orders keep climbing, as every plan rises with monthly orders
- Skip it if you want photo reviews for free, as the free plan leaves them out
- Tight if you need Q&A or AI summaries, which start at Pro from $119 a month
Good to know
Good for
- Growing Shopify stores that expect to add loyalty later
- Large brands on Salesforce Commerce Cloud or Adobe Commerce
- Stores that want Google Seller Ratings from their own reviews
Worth knowing
- The free plan stops at 50 orders a month and leaves out photo and video reviews and removing Yotpo branding.
- Prices rise with monthly orders: Starter only goes to 999 orders, Pro to 5,999, and above that Premium and Enterprise are quoted by sales.
- Google Seller Ratings, AI summaries, custom questions and Q&A start at Pro, from $119 a month.
- Loyalty & Referrals is billed separately; a Reviews and Loyalty bundle starts at $199 a month.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
The plain part of Yotpo you could make: review collection. What surrounds it you could not. The 3 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.
It costs $180 a year.
What you could make
- Review collection: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- It plugs into other products, Shopify, BigCommerce and WooCommerce among them, and has an API.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. Yotpo’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
