Before you choose, here are 7 things to know about digital business cards, worked out from every one we grade.

  1. 1

We grade 11 digital business cards

9 of them are free or have a free plan, and 1 more let you try before paying. Everything in this guide comes from their own pages and our grades.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $5 a month in the middle

From $2.50 (Haystack) to $29 (Linq), going by what each one's paid plans start at.

  3. 3

    Best value: Blinq and Haystack

Nothing on our chart scores higher than these without costing more.

  4. 4

8 of 11 have iPhone and Android apps

11 run in a web browser and 0 have a Windows app. Check the one you need before you fall for anything.

  5. 5

    The middle GPA is 2.6

4 score 3.0 or higher. The highest is Blinq, at 3.0.

  6. 6

    Best free option: Blinq

Blinq has the highest GPA of the free ones, 3.0. Digital business cards with contact scanning and event lead capture.

  7. 7

11 worth keeping, 0 you could make

By our keep-or-make rules, 11 do something you couldn't reasonably build yourself, 0 are simple enough to make with an AI app builder, and 0 are a close call.

Part 02 · Top three

Our top three

The three we'd look at first, and who each one suits

The three digital business cards we'd look at first. First place suits the most people; second and third are the best picks for the people it leaves out. Each has an Insider's Guide of its own.

  1. 1st

    3.0GPA

    Blinq

    Free plan · from $4.99/mo

For: Most people, from one card to a sales team

Blinq's free plan gives two cards with unlimited sharing and contacts, shared by QR code, link, email, SMS or Apple and Google Wallet, and the person receiving one needs no app. An NFC card is $24.99 once. Its iPhone and iPad app averages 4.9 from about 133,000 ratings. Know the limits: the contact scanner and contact export need Premium at $7.33 a month billed yearly ($9.99 monthly); CRM sync and lead capture need Business, which bills five cards at least, about $24.95 a month; each lead captured and enriched there costs $9.99 more; and cards are set up in the phone app.

  2. 2nd

    3.0GPA

    Haystack

    Free plan · from $2.50/mo

For: Anyone who wants to pay nothing, card scanner included

Haystack's free Personal plan puts no cap on cards, shares, contacts or AI scans of paper cards, with your logo, photos, notes and tags and the iPhone and Android apps. Pro is $4.50 a user a month billed yearly ($7.95 monthly), and Business is $2.50 a user for teams of 10 or more, and larger companies can create staff cards from Entra ID or Google Workspace. It is second because it sells no NFC cards, custom card design, email signatures and CRM links need Pro, the prices don't say whether they are US or Australian dollars, the 14-day trial charges your card when it ends, and no store rating is on record.

    3.0GPA

    Popl

    Free plan · from $76.99/yr

For: Event and trade show teams scanning badges

Popl's free card comes with a lead capture form, an email signature and insights, and its iPhone and iPad app averages 4.8 from about 103,000 ratings. Its team plans read any event badge by the printed name, even when the badge's code is encrypted, enrich the contact and sync it to Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo, Dynamics, Zoho or monday.com, with no per-seat or per-scan charge. It is third because team plans are priced only by quote after a demo, Pro ($76.99 a year) and Pro+ prices appear only in the App Store, free leads can't be exported, and the site now puts event teams ahead of one person's card.

Part 03 · Pricing

What they cost

What paid plans start at, the best buy at each budget and the free plans

$5

Going by our grades, Blinq and Haystack give the most for the money among digital business cards: no tool on this chart scores higher without costing more.

Paid plans start at a middle price of $5 a month across the 9 that charge, from $2.50 (Haystack) to $29 (Linq).

3 of the 9 score above the category's average while starting at or below its middle price. 3 cost more than the middle price and score below the average.

Part 05 · Keep or make

Keep or make?

Which are worth paying for, and which you could make yourself

0

Simple enough to make yourself, of 11

Some software does something you couldn’t reasonably build yourself. Some is simple enough that an AI app builder could make the core of it in an afternoon. Here’s where digital business cards land, by the same rules for every tool.

  • 11

    Keep it

It does something you could not reasonably make for yourself, or it costs nothing.

  • 0

    Your call

You could make the core of it, and you would give something up.

  • 0

    You could make this

What it does is the kind of thing an AI app builder makes well, and it charges every month.

Worth keeping

  • Blinq

To replace Blinq you would be making a bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

  • Haystack

The plain part of Haystack you could make: digital business card and email signature. What surrounds it you could not. The 6 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

  • Popl

The plain part of Popl you could make: digital business card and email signature. What surrounds it you could not. The 6 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

  • Wave Connect

The plain part of Wave Connect you could make: digital business card and email signature. What surrounds it you could not. The 6 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.
