Welcome

What these tools do, how many we grade and what to know before choosing

7

data removal services we grade, from their own pages

Find your name, address and phone number on data broker sites and have them taken down, again and again.

0 score 3.0 or higher. The highest is Optery, at 2.8.

  4. 4

    Best free option: Optery

Optery has the highest GPA of the free ones, 2.8. Data broker removal with a free exposure report and screenshot proof.

  5. 5

7 worth keeping, 0 you could make

By our keep-or-make rules, 7 do something you couldn't reasonably build yourself, 0 are simple enough to make with an AI app builder, and 0 are a close call.

Part 02 · Top three

Our top three

The three we'd look at first, and who each one suits

The three data removal services we'd look at first. First place suits the most people; second and third are the best picks for the people it leaves out. Each has an Insider's Guide of its own.

  1. 1st

    2.8GPA

    Optery

    Free plan · from $3.25/mo

For: Most people who want their details off broker sites

Optery's free account shows where your name, address and phone number appear, with a screenshot and link for each profile and a scan of Google and Bing, but removes nothing. Core is $39 a year ($3.99 billed monthly) and files removals at 375+ sites by Optery's count, at least every 30 days, it says. Extended, at $149 a year, adds name variations, past cities, a human agent and before-and-after screenshot reports. Know the limits: Core covers one name and one city and state, personal plans are only for adults in the US, Canada outside Quebec, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, and there is no trial, only a 30-day money-back guarantee.

    1.8GPA

    Incogni

    From $7.99/mo

For: People in the UK and Europe, and households of up to 5

Incogni sends removal requests to data brokers, public and private, citing laws such as the GDPR and CCPA, after you sign one authorization form; it says it covers 420+ brokers and keeps resending requests. Standard is $95.88 a year ($15.98 billed monthly), and Family covers up to 5 people for $191.88 a year. It serves the US, Canada, the UK, the EU and a few other European countries. It is second because it costs more and shows nothing first: there is no free plan or trial, its terms allow three extra emails, addresses or phone numbers per account, and custom requests need Unlimited at $179.88 a year.

  3. 3rd

    2.2GPA

    EasyOptOuts

    From $19.99/yr

For: US residents who want to pay the least

EasyOptOuts files opt-outs automatically at 200+ people-search sites and a few large brokers such as Acxiom and LexisNexis, by its own count, for $19.99 a year. It asks only for your legal name, birth date, current address and email, with past addresses, other names and phone numbers optional, and offers a 150-day money-back guarantee. It is third because it does less: it is for US residents only, it says it rescans every 4 months, there are no custom requests or family plan, and PeopleConnect sites such as Intelius and TruthFinder are left to you.

Part 04 · Keep or make

Keep or make?

Which are worth paying for, and which you could make yourself

0

Simple enough to make yourself, of 7

Some software does something you couldn’t reasonably build yourself. Some is simple enough that an AI app builder could make the core of it in an afternoon. Here’s where data removal services land, by the same rules for every tool.

  • 7

    Keep it

It does something you could not reasonably make for yourself, or it costs nothing.

  • 0

    Your call

You could make the core of it, and you would give something up.

  • 0

    You could make this

What it does is the kind of thing an AI app builder makes well, and it charges every month.

Worth keeping

  • Optery

To replace Optery you would be making opt-out requests to hundreds of data brokers, sent again whenever they list you again. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

  • Aura

To replace Aura you would be making opt-out requests to hundreds of data brokers, sent again whenever they list you again. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

  • Privacy Bee

To replace Privacy Bee you would be making opt-out requests to hundreds of data brokers, sent again whenever they list you again. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

  • EasyOptOuts

To replace EasyOptOuts you would be making opt-out requests to hundreds of data brokers, sent again whenever they list you again. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
