- Teams running public and private knowledge bases side by side

GitBook

Worth knowing
Document360
- Document360 publishes no prices: every plan is a custom quote based on team accounts, workspaces, languages, security needs and AI usage.
- The free trial is started by booking a live demo, and the site does not say how long the trial lasts.
- The AI chatbot and the AI Premium Suite (screen capture, step-by-step guides, interactive demos and video recording) are listed as add-ons.
- The site lists no desktop or mobile apps; the product runs in a browser, with a Chrome extension for searching articles.
GitBook
- Paid plans combine a per-site fee with $12 per user / month, and guests and read-only members cost the same as other members.
- The pricing page shows annual-billing prices and advertises 2 months free; month-to-month rates are not shown in its default view.
- The Free plan covers a single user and leaves out custom domains, AI search and AI writing.
- SAML SSO is limited to Enterprise; the AI Assistant, adaptive content and authenticated access need Ultimate at $249 per site / month.
Key features
Document360
- Markdown and WYSIWYG editors
- Articles are written in a Markdown editor or an advanced WYSIWYG editor, and revision history tracks every change so an earlier version can be restored.
- Public and private projects
- A project is a complete knowledge base with its own users, custom domain and branding. Private projects are read by people who log in with reader accounts.
- Eddy AI
- The AI features include a writing agent that drafts articles from prompts, videos and files, conversational search that cites its sources, glossary generation and an MCP server.
- Review and publishing workflows
- A custom workflow builder automates task assignment, review cycles and publishing, and scheduled reminders prompt reviewers to audit older content.
- Analytics
- Reports cover articles and categories, searches, reader feedback, authors, links and page-not-found hits, with a breakdown by country.
- API and integrations
- Customer API v3 offers more than 180 endpoints with scoped keys and OAuth 2.0. Integrations include Zendesk, Freshdesk, Intercom, Slack, Microsoft Teams and GitHub.
GitBook
- Block-based editor
- A visual editor built from blocks, including custom ones. Added users collaborate through change requests and content reviews before edits are published.
- Git Sync
- Two-way sync with GitHub or GitLab lets a team branch, review and merge documentation like a pull request. It is included on every plan, the Free one too.
- Published docs sites
- Sites get unlimited traffic and preview deployments on every plan. Custom domains, branding and redirects start on Premium; sections and site groups need Ultimate.
- AI search and Assistant
- On Premium, readers get short answers straight from the search box. Ultimate adds the Assistant, a chat sidebar that can also draw on connected sources such as GitHub and Slack.
- GitBook Agent
- Writes, edits and updates documentation and flags content that no longer matches the product. Free accounts are limited to 10 messages a week.
- API docs and LLM-ready output
- OpenAPI specifications become interactive API playgrounds. Every site also gets llms.txt files, Markdown versions of pages and its own MCP server.
