|---|---|---|
| Value for money | BDyad Pro is $20 a month, about what AI app builders usually charge. It gives 200 AI credits a month for leading models and a Pro Agent with web search, website cloning and image generation. Max is $79 for 900 credits. Plenty of people won't need either. | BPro starts at $25 a month, or $250 for the year, at the top end of what AI app builders usually charge. That's 100 credits a month for as many members as you like, with rollovers, custom domains and code editing. A Build mode message costs a varying number of credits. |
| Free plan and trial | AThe desktop app is free and open source, with no sign-up and no limit on apps. Bring your own API key, a ChatGPT subscription or a local model. You pay for that model access yourself, and Basic Agent stops at 20 messages a day. | BFree for good: 5 build credits a day, but no more than 30 a month, plus 20 Cloud credits and 4 AI credits. Unlimited members can join, and code still syncs to GitHub. No custom domains, no code editing, and the Lovable badge stays on. |
| Features | BIt writes full-stack web apps, with Supabase or Neon for the database and login, GitHub sync, a security scan and MCP servers. With a local model it works offline. But it builds web apps only, the mobile route is experimental, and hosting is yours to arrange. | ADescribe the app and it writes the frontend, backend, database and sign-in as code you can edit. A built-in Cloud backend runs deployed apps, and every project syncs to GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket. Connectors link Slack, HubSpot and Notion. It builds web apps only, not App Store ones. |
| Ease of use | CYou install a desktop app, then wire things together yourself: an API key or a local model for the AI, Supabase or Neon for data, GitHub and a host such as Vercel to publish. That's more setup than a hosted builder, and there's no rating on record. | A4.8 from about 2,200 App Store ratings. You build by chatting, and Plan mode lets you talk an idea through for 1 credit a message before anything gets built. |
| Platforms and integrations | BMac and Windows, plus Linux, which the FAQ calls untested and which doesn't auto-update. There's no browser or phone version. It connects to GitHub, Vercel, Supabase, Neon, OpenAI, Anthropic, Ollama and LM Studio. | AWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. It connects to GitHub, Supabase, Stripe, Slack, Notion, HubSpot and Figma, and you can add your own MCP servers. The Lovable API is for Business plans. |
| Best for | keeping the code on your own computer | building a web app in chat, alone or as a team |

Who each one suits
Dyad
- Developers and hobbyists who want generated code kept on their own machine
- People who already pay for AI model access and want to reuse it
- Building full-stack web apps on Supabase or Neon without a hosted builder
Lovable
- Founders and product teams turning an idea into a working web app
- Teams building internal tools from one shared credit pool, with no per-seat fee
- Developers who want generated code synced to their own Git repository
Worth knowing
Dyad
- Dyad is a desktop app only: there is no browser or mobile version, and the FAQ says it is not built to run on a server.
- Linux support is experimental: the FAQ says Linux is not tested, may have bugs and does not auto-update.
- It builds web apps. Turning one into a mobile app through Capacitor is experimental, and desktop apps are not supported.
- On the free app you supply and pay for your own AI model access, and Basic Agent stops at 20 messages a day.
Lovable
- Usage is metered in credits, and a Build mode message costs a variable amount depending on the task.
- Free workspaces get 30 build credits a month at most and cannot use custom domains, edit code or remove the Lovable badge.
- SSO, role-based access and internal publishing start on Business, which costs twice as much as Pro for the same credits.
- Lovable builds web apps: publishing deploys to a web URL, not to the App Store or Google Play.
Key features
Dyad
- Runs on your own computer
- Dyad is a desktop app that keeps project files on your disk and sets no limit on the number of apps. Paired with a local model, it works without an internet connection.
- Bring your own AI model
- Use your own API keys for providers such as Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic and OpenRouter, sign in with a ChatGPT subscription, or run local models through Ollama or LM Studio.
- Agent mode
- Basic Agent checks for build errors, runs tests and debugs from logs, limited to 20 messages a day on Free. Pro Agent adds web search, website cloning and image generation.
- Database and auth integrations
- Supabase and Neon connect from inside the app to give a full-stack project its database, schema migrations and user authentication.
- GitHub sync and deployment
- An app can be connected to a GitHub repository and synced from Dyad. The docs walk through deploying that repository on Vercel, and any other cloud host can be used.
- Security scan and MCP servers
- A built-in security review looks for problems such as SQL injection and missing auth protection, and MCP servers can be added for browser tools, web search or custom APIs.
Lovable
- Prompt-to-app building
- Describe an app in chat and Lovable generates working code. Plan mode costs 1 credit per message, while Build mode charges by the complexity of the task.
- Lovable Cloud backend
- A built-in backend covers database, storage, compute and realtime usage for deployed apps, paid from the same credits. Every plan includes a monthly grant of 20 Cloud credits.
- Git sync and code ownership
- Each project is a codebase that can sync with GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket on every plan. Editing and downloading code inside Lovable starts on Pro.
- Publishing and custom domains
- Apps publish to a lovable.app address: 5 domains on Free, unlimited from Pro. Custom domains and removing the Lovable badge need a paid plan.
- Connectors and MCP servers
- A connector catalog links apps and chats to services such as Slack, HubSpot and Notion, and custom MCP servers can be added for extra context while building.
- Shared workspaces
- Unlimited members build from one shared credit pool on every plan. Owners can set per-member monthly credit limits on paid plans.
