Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
1.6
GPA, above 0 of the 65 other focus apps we grade
Caveday runs live, facilitated focus sessions over Zoom, which it calls Caves. A trained guide opens each session, members say what they plan to work on in small groups, and everyone then alternates timed work sprints with short breaks. Membership gives unlimited reservations for sessions that run every day, plus a round-the-clock Focus Lounge, planning workshops and a community forum.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Caveday, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for long guided work sessions with company
Caveday is a room full of people working, on Zoom, with a guide keeping time: say what you'll do, sprint, take a short break together, go again, at most hours of the day.
- 2
Paid plans start at $35 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $35 / month, billed quarterly ($105), or $39.99 monthly.
- 3
You can try it first
14-day free trial; the membership renews automatically afterwards
- 4
It runs on Web
Web.
- 5
Live focus sessions every day
Sessions of 30 minutes, 1 hour and 3 hours run seven days a week, adding up to more than 20 hours of live sessions a day. Members can reserve as many as they like.
- 6
Sprints and guided breaks
Work sprints last 45 to 52 minutes, with the exact length left unannounced, and the guide leads short breaks between them. Check-in and check-out happen in small breakout groups.
- 7
Trained Cave Guides
Every session is led by a human facilitator. Caveday says it has more than 35 guides around the world from a range of professional backgrounds.
- 8
A 1.6 GPA, above 0 of 65
That is against the other focus apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Caveday you would be making video calls. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for long guided work sessions with company
Caveday is a room full of people working, on Zoom, with a guide keeping time: say what you'll do, sprint, take a short break together, go again, at most hours of the day. At $39.99 a month or $105 a quarter it's the dearest of its listed rivals, the trial rolls into a membership, refunds close after 7 days, and latecomers are shut out.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | D | It's a coached service, so we set it against the ones it names as rivals: Focusmate at $8 a month, Deepwrk at $12, FLOWN at $19, Flow Club at $33.33. Caveday is the dearest of them at $39.99 a month, or $35 billed quarterly, which is about three times that group's middle. |
| Free plan and trial | D | No free plan, and the 14-day trial rolls straight into a membership that charges $39.99 a month or $105 a quarter unless you stop it. Refunds only inside 7 days of a purchase or renewal, so a forgotten renewal is money gone. |
| Features | C | It does its one thing: more than 20 hours of live sessions a day in 30-minute, hour and three-hour lengths, trained guides, a Focus Lounge that never closes, weekly planning workshops and a forum. But that one thing is narrow. There's no app, no blocking, no tools of its own. |
| Ease of use | C | No rating on record, and this one asks something of you before it works: a Zoom account, a reserved slot, a camera on and a check-in with strangers. Turn up late and you're out, since each session shuts its doors 10 minutes after it starts. |
| Platforms and integrations | C | It all happens in a browser on Zoom. Caveday lists no app of its own for phone or desktop, and Zoom is the only thing it plugs into, so there's nothing on your devices doing anything between sessions. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Caveday is for
- Fits if you get more done with other people on camera doing the same
- Works for people with ADHD who use body doubling to get started, or need three hours with someone keeping time
Who it is not for
- Pricey if you'd only join once or twice a week, at $39.99 a month
- Skip it if you run late, because sessions close 10 minutes after they start
- Not for you if you'd rather stay off camera, as cameras are encouraged
- Watch out: the 14-day trial renews on its own, and refunds are only within 7 days of a charge
- Too light for help between sessions, as there's no app, no blocking and nothing but Zoom
Good to know
Good for
- Remote workers who focus better with other people on camera
- People with ADHD who use body doubling to get started
- Long stretches of deep work with a facilitator keeping time
Worth knowing
- There is no free plan: after the 14-day trial the membership renews automatically at $39.99 a month or $105 a quarter.
- Sessions take place on Zoom with cameras encouraged and microphones muted; Caveday lists no app of its own.
- Each session closes 10 minutes after its start time, and latecomers are not admitted.
- Memberships can be refunded only within 7 days of a purchase or renewal.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Caveday you would be making video calls. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 65 of the 65 other focus apps grade higher. It costs $420 a year.
What you could make
- Goals: an app builder makes this well.
What you could not
- Video calls.
- People on the other end: live sessions and facilitators. No app builder makes those.
- Sharing with other people, which means accounts and invitations.
What this rests on. Caveday’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
