Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.0

GPA, above 1 of the 19 other help desk and live chat tools we grade

eDesk is a help desk built for online sellers that pulls messages from marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay and Walmart, from web stores and from email, chat and social channels into one inbox, with each customer's orders and delivery status beside the ticket. Plans are priced per agent, and its AI Agent is included on every plan but charged per outcome.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about eDesk, taken from its own pages and our grades.

You connect each marketplace and store, set up rules and templates, and write the procedures the AI Agent follows.

Best for sellers on Amazon, eBay and their own store

eDesk is a help desk for people who sell on Amazon, eBay or Walmart as well as their own store: every marketplace message lands in one inbox with the order and delivery status beside it. None of the other help desks here list marketplaces like that. It's $39 an agent to start, though, and Essential connects just one store or marketplace.

Who eDesk is for

  • Great if you sell on Amazon or eBay and answer buyers' messages every day
  • Handy when every ticket needs the order and delivery status right there
  • Good for sellers who'd rather pay for AI only when it actually answers

Who it is not for

  • Pricey if you're a small seller, at $39 an agent for just one store or marketplace
  • Skip it if you answer customers from your phone, as there's no app
  • Not for you if you don't sell online, since it's built around orders

Good to know

Good for

  • Sellers on Amazon, eBay or Walmart as well as their own web store
  • Ecommerce teams that need order details inside every ticket
  • Businesses that want to pay for AI only when it resolves something

Worth knowing

  • Each AI Agent outcome costs $0.99, charged once per ticket when it replies to a customer or takes an action.
  • Essential connects only 1 store or marketplace; Growth allows 5, Professional 10, and multi-brand views need Enterprise.
  • AI Assist ($30 per agent / month), Translate ($19 per agent / month) and review requests ($99 per account / month) are add-ons.
  • The pricing FAQ says no refunds are given for cancellations or downgrades; the account stays active until the next payment date.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace eDesk you would be making one mailbox that several people work at once. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 17 of the 19 other help desk and live chat tools grade higher. It costs $468 a year.

What you could make

  • Help desk: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • One mailbox that several people work at once.
  • An AI model answering your customers from your own help articles.
  • A chat box on your site that reaches you the moment a customer types.
  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
  • It plugs into other products, Amazon, eBay and Walmart among them, and has an API.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.

What this rests on. eDesk’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
