Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.2
GPA, above 3 of the 79 other project management tools we grade
Freelo is a Czech task and project management app for teams and freelancers. Projects hold to-do lists and tasks with assignees, deadlines and a discussion thread, shown as rows, kanban columns, a calendar or a timeline. Time tracking with hour and cost reports is part of every plan, and the Business plan adds free guest accounts for clients, an API and connections for AI assistants.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Freelo, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for teams reporting hours and costs per project
Freelo is a Czech task and project app: projects, to-do lists, tasks and a comment thread on each one, with time tracking and hour and cost reports on every plan, the free one included.
- 2
Paid plans start at about $11.21 a month for each person
As its pricing page puts it: €10 per user / month, billed monthly (Lite; 14% off paid annually).
- 3
There is a free plan
3 active projects, you plus 3 invited users and 500 MB of shared storage, with row, kanban and calendar views, time tracking and reports.
- 4
It runs on 3 platforms
Web, iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.
- 5
Projects, to-do lists and tasks
Projects group to-do lists and tasks, each with an assignee, deadline, priority, attached files and its own comment thread.
- 6
Row, kanban, calendar and timeline views
Tasks can be shown as rows, kanban columns or a calendar on every plan. The Timeline (Gantt) view and task dependencies need Business or Premium.
- 7
Time tracking and reports
Time tracked on tasks feeds daily, weekly and monthly reports of hours and costs, with CSV export. These are included on every plan, including Free.
- 8
A 2.2 GPA, above 3 of 79
That is against the other project management tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
The plain part of Freelo you could make: tasks, kanban boards, Gantt & timelines, time tracking and mind mapping. What surrounds it you could not. The 5 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

The report card
Best for teams reporting hours and costs per project
Freelo is a Czech task and project app: projects, to-do lists, tasks and a comment thread on each one, with time tracking and hour and cost reports on every plan, the free one included. But the timeline, dependencies, custom fields, the API and AI all need Business or Premium, a single Business license is €49 a month, prices are in euros before VAT, and there's no desktop app.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | D | Lite is €10 a user a month and stops at 9 users, which is already the dear end of this category for plain task lists. The timeline, dependencies, custom fields and API all sit on Business, and Business is €10.90 a user at 10 users, €49 a month if you're on your own. That's a lot for one person. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Free covers 3 active projects, you plus 3 invited users and 500 MB of shared storage. Time tracking and reports are included, but three projects and three people is a wall you'll hit in a month. |
| Features | B | Tasks with assignees, deadlines and their own comment thread, as rows, kanban, a calendar or a timeline, plus time tracking that feeds hour and cost reports, forms that create tasks, mind maps and guest accounts. The timeline, dependencies and custom fields wait on Business. |
| Ease of use | C | No store rating on record. The structure is simple enough, projects then to-do lists then tasks, but it's still a web app you set up project by project, and the 14-day trial is there because you'll need a look round first. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web, iPhone, Android and a browser extension, with no native desktop app: the help centre tells you to install the web app as a PWA instead. It connects to Teams, Outlook, Gmail, Google Calendar, Make and n8n, and the API comes with Business. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Freelo is for
- Fits if you're a freelancer or small team bringing clients in as guests
- Works for teams that report hours and costs per task and project
Who it is not for
- Pricey if you work alone and want everything, as a single Business license is €49 a month paid annually
- Tight if you're staying free, with 3 active projects, 3 invited users and 500 MB, and Lite stops at 9 users
- Skip it if you need a timeline, task dependencies, custom fields, the API or AI, which all need Business or Premium
- Not for you if you want a proper desktop app, because there's only the web app installed as a PWA
- Watch out: prices are in euros and exclude VAT, and the €6.45 Lite price on the page is a first-year promo rate
Good to know
Good for
- Small teams and freelancers who bring clients in as guests
- Teams that report hours and costs per task and project
- Czech-speaking teams that want support in their own language
Worth knowing
- Prices are in euros and exclude VAT. The Business per-user price depends on team size: a single license is €49 a month, paid annually.
- The Free plan allows 3 active projects, 3 invited users and 500 MB, and Lite stops at 9 users.
- Timeline (Gantt), task dependencies, custom fields, the API and AI integration all need Business or Premium.
- There is no native desktop app; the help center describes installing the web app as a PWA instead.

It stands best on features (B, above 27 of 79) and worst on value for money (D, above 0).

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
The plain part of Freelo you could make: tasks, kanban boards, Gantt & timelines, time tracking and mind mapping. What surrounds it you could not. The 5 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 60 of the 79 other project management tools grade higher. It costs $134.47 a year.
What you could make
- Tasks, kanban boards, Gantt & timelines, time tracking and mind mapping: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
- It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
- It plugs into other products, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Outlook and Gmail among them, and has an API.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. Freelo’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
