Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.2

GPA, above 4 of the 48 other CRM tools we grade

Keap, known as Infusionsoft until 2019 and now part of Thryv, combines a small-business CRM with sales and marketing automation, email and text marketing, appointment booking, quotes, invoices and payments. It is sold as one plan that includes the whole platform, priced by the number of users and contacts. New customers also buy a required implementation package.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Keap, taken from its own pages and our grades.

And Keap makes new customers buy an implementation package, which tells you plainly this isn't a sign-up-and-go tool.

The report card

Best for small businesses wanting CRM and automation in one

Keap, formerly Infusionsoft, is one plan with CRM, email and text marketing, automation, booking, quotes, invoices and payments. It's $299 a month for 2 users and 1,500 contacts, extra users are $39, and new customers must buy a setup package shown at $500. Texting is US only, the trial can't take payments, and leaving an annual contract early costs $299.

ToolGPA report cardKeapGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyD$299 a month for 2 users works out around $150 a head, when the CRMs here sit near $24 and the dearest tenth starts at $65. Extra users are $39, more contacts cost more, and new customers must buy a setup package listed at $1,500, shown at $500. You do get the whole platform.
Free plan and trialCNo free plan. There's a 14-day trial with no card, which is something. But it's capped at 25 emails and can't take payments or send texts, so you won't see the whole thing before you pay.
FeaturesBContacts with tags and lead scoring, a drag-and-drop automation builder, email and text marketing, a pipeline, a booking link, quotes, invoices, payments, landing pages and forms, all in the one plan with nothing held back. Texting is US only, and the integration list runs to five names.
Ease of useC4.4 from about 1,800 App Store ratings, just under our bar for a B. And Keap makes new customers buy an implementation package, which tells you plainly this isn't a sign-up-and-go tool.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, iPhone and Android, with no desktop app. It works with Gmail, Outlook, Zapier, PayPal and Stripe, and there's an API for wiring up the rest, though five integrations is a short list for this money.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.2

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

  • Watch out: the price covers 2 users and 1,500 contacts, with $39 per extra user and more for more contacts
  • Tight if you want to try it properly: the trial caps you at 25 emails, with no payments or texting

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Keap you would be making email sent in volume that still reaches the inbox. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 30 of the 48 other CRM tools grade higher. It costs $3,588 a year.

What you could make

  • Sales pipeline, invoicing and forms: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Email sent in volume that still reaches the inbox.
  • Connections to other products, each kept working as those products change.
  • Booking pages that read and write other people's calendars and send the emails.
  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Keap’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
