Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

3.0

GPA, above 103 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade

My Tasks: Lists & Schedules is a to-do app for Android and iPhone by Stefanos Kouzounis that puts tasks, notes, checklists and a calendar in one place. It is offline-first: everything is stored in a local database on the phone, and no account is needed to start. The core app is free with no ads. An optional premium tier, sold monthly, yearly or as a lifetime purchase, adds cloud backup and sync, shared tasks, an AI assistant, an OCR scanner and drawing notes.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about My Tasks, taken from its own pages and our grades.

No store rating on record, but there's nothing to set up: install it, start typing, no account, no connection needed.

The report card

Best for a free phone to-do app that needs no account

My Tasks puts tasks, notes, checklists and a calendar in one phone app for Android, iPhone and iPad, and the core is free with no ads or account. Everything stays on that one device unless you pay: sync, backup, sharing and the AI assistant are premium, from $2.99 a month. There's no web or desktop app, and Google Play shows unlabelled prices that don't match the App Store.

SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyAPremium is $19.99 a year, about $1.67 a month, under the $2.42 that marks this category's cheaper quarter. Lifetime is $39.99, less than a single year on the category's middle subscription.
Free plan and trialBUnlimited tasks, sub-tasks, notes, checklists, calendar events, reminders and repeats, with no ads and no account. That covers one person on one phone. The wall is sync: without premium, your phone and your tablet keep separate lists.
FeaturesBIt covers the whole job for a phone: tasks with sub-steps, descriptions, reminders, repeats, categories and tags, plus a notes editor, draggable checklists, a calendar in day, week and month views, five widgets and a fingerprint lock. Premium adds real-time shared tasks and an AI assistant.
Ease of useBNo store rating on record, but there's nothing to set up: install it, start typing, no account, no connection needed. Signing in only comes up if you decide you want cloud backup or to share a list.
Platforms and integrationsCPhones only, Android 8.0 and up plus iPhone and iPad, with no web or desktop app and no integrations on record at all. Even matching your own phone and tablet means paying for the premium cloud backup.
Grade point averageVery good, out of 4.03.0

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who My Tasks is for

  • Fits if you want a to-do app that works with no account and no connection
  • Works for tasks, notes, shopping lists and a calendar kept in one phone app

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you want your tasks on a computer, as there's no web or desktop app
  • Not for you if you expect free sync, since without premium each device keeps its own list
  • Too light for anyone who wants tasks wired into other apps, as it has no integrations on record
  • Watch out: shared tasks, the AI assistant, the OCR scanner and drawing notes are premium too
  • Watch out: Google Play shows a different in-app range, $0.99 to $33.99 per item, without labels

Good to know

Good for

  • People who want a to-do app that needs no account or connection
  • Keeping tasks, notes, lists and a calendar in one phone app
  • Couples or families sharing lists, with premium

Worth knowing

  • Cloud backup and sync, shared tasks, the AI assistant, the OCR scanner and drawing notes are premium features.
  • Without premium each device keeps its own separate list; syncing a phone and a tablet, or Android and iPhone, needs the premium cloud backup.
  • It is available for Android 8.0 and up and for iPhone and iPad only, with no web or desktop app.
  • Prices here are from the US App Store; Google Play shows a different in-app range of $0.99 to $33.99 per item without labels.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

The plain part of My Tasks you could make: tasks, notes and calendar. What surrounds it you could not. The 4 things listed below take a company, not a weekend.

It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.0 is higher than 103 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade. It costs $19.99 a year.

What you could make

  • Tasks, notes and calendar: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
  • Hooks into the device itself: widgets.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. My Tasks’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
