Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.0
GPA, above 0 of the 40 other automation tools we grade
Sheetgo automates work that lives in spreadsheets. Its Automations product connects Google Sheets, Excel and CSV files and moves, merges, splits and filters data between them on a schedule, from a web app or from add-ons inside Google Sheets and Excel. A second product, Workflows, adds forms, approvals, dashboards and team management for multi-step processes, and the newer Virtual Employees are AI agents that work in a team's Google Sheets files.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Sheetgo, taken from its own pages and our grades.
The sidebar inside a Sheets file helps, but you're still building something.
- 1
Best for teams whose processes live in spreadsheets

Paid plans start at $35 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $35 / month, billed yearly (Automations Pro).
- 3
There is a free plan
Automations Free, for the Google Sheets add-on: up to 10 automations, 10 sources per automation, 10 filter conditions, 1 MB Excel or CSV files and 5 minutes of runtime per run. No credit card required.

- 5
Spreadsheet-to-spreadsheet automations
An automation sends data from a source file to a destination file. It works with Google Sheets, Excel, CSV and TSV files kept in Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint or Dropbox.
- 6
Merge, split and filter
Data processors merge several files into one, split one file out to many, and filter which rows are transferred. The pricing page also lists an AI Processor among them.
- 7
Schedules and triggers
Automations run on a schedule or when a form is submitted, a webhook fires or a file or folder changes. Each run uses automation credits from the plan's monthly allowance.
- 8
A 2.0 GPA, above 0 of 40
That is against the other automation tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace Sheetgo you would be making connections to other products, each kept working as those products change. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for teams whose processes live in spreadsheets
Sheetgo moves, merges, splits and filters data between Google Sheets, Excel and CSV files on a schedule, from a sidebar inside the spreadsheet. Automations Pro starts at $35 a month billed yearly, past this category's dearer quarter. Forms and approvals sit in Workflows, a separate product from $88, the free plan caps Excel files at 1 MB, and it doesn't connect your other apps.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | D | Automations Pro starts at $35 a month billed yearly, and monthly costs more. The dearer quarter of this category starts at $25, so that's past the lot of them. And forms, approvals and dashboards aren't even in it: Workflows is a separate product from $88, against a category middle of $19. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Automations Free asks for no card, but the caps are ones you'll meet: 10 automations, 1 MB for an Excel or CSV file, 5 minutes a run, and only through the Google Sheets add-on. Workflows has nothing free at all, just a 14-day trial. |
| Features | C | Spreadsheet automation: merge, split and filter between Sheets, Excel and CSV, on a schedule or off a form, webhook or file change, and rows out as Docs, PDFs and emails. But that's a smaller job than this category's job. It doesn't connect your other apps the way the big automation tools do. |
| Ease of use | C | No rating on record, and there's setting up to do: drives to connect, automations to build, and a choice between two products that aren't the same thing. The sidebar inside a Sheets file helps, but you're still building something. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | Web only, with add-ons for Google Sheets and Excel, no phone app on the listing. It reaches into Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint, Dropbox, Slack and Google Chat, plus a webhook to set a run off. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Sheetgo is for
- Fits if your team runs its processes on Google Sheets or Excel files
- Works for analysts who want scheduled data transfers between spreadsheets without writing scripts
Who it is not for
- Pricey if you only need a simple transfer, with paid plans from $35 a month billed yearly
- Skip it if your data isn't in spreadsheets, because files are what it connects
- Not for you if you want forms and approvals on Automations, as Workflows is sold separately from $88 a month
- Tight if you're staying free: 10 automations, 1 MB Excel or CSV files, 5-minute runs, and the Sheets add-on only
- Watch out: workflows pause when monthly credits run out unless billed extra usage is on, and Excel files must sit in OneDrive or SharePoint
Good to know
Good for
- Teams that run processes on Google Sheets or Excel files
- Consolidating many departmental spreadsheets into one report
- Analysts who want scheduled data transfers without writing scripts
Worth knowing
- Automations and Workflows are separate products with separate plans; an Automations plan does not include Workflows.
- Workflows has no free plan, only a 14-day trial of Workflows Team.
- Paid plans include a monthly allowance of automation credits; workflows pause when it runs out unless extra usage is switched on and billed.
- The Excel add-in needs files stored online in OneDrive or SharePoint.

Other automation tools it is graded above
Sheetgo's GPA of 2.0 is higher than 0 of the 40 other automation tools we grade, and level with 5.
It stands best on platforms and integrations (B, above 10 of 40) and worst on value for money (D, above 0).
Its paid plans start at $35 a month, against a middle price of $18.50 for the category: 25 of the 29 others that charge start lower.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Sheetgo you would be making connections to other products, each kept working as those products change. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 35 of the 40 other automation tools grade higher. It costs $420 a year.
What you could make
- Templates and forms: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- Connections to other products, each kept working as those products change.
- A builder that other people can use without writing code.
- An AI agent, with the models and the safeguards behind it.
What this rests on. Sheetgo’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
