Who each one suits
Sheetgo
- Teams that run processes on Google Sheets or Excel files
- Consolidating many departmental spreadsheets into one report
- Analysts who want scheduled data transfers without writing scripts
Whalesync
- Running a Webflow or WordPress site's content from Airtable or Notion
- Operations teams bulk-editing CRM records from a spreadsheet
- Teams that want records mirrored both ways, not trigger-based automations
Worth knowing
Sheetgo
- Automations and Workflows are separate products with separate plans; an Automations plan does not include Workflows.
- Workflows has no free plan, only a 14-day trial of Workflows Team.
- Paid plans include a monthly allowance of automation credits; workflows pause when it runs out unless extra usage is switched on and billed.
- The Excel add-in needs files stored online in OneDrive or SharePoint.
Whalesync
- There is no free plan: when the 7-day trial ends, syncing pauses until a plan is chosen.
- Starter stops at 2,000 records in sync. CRM connectors such as HubSpot need Plus, and Salesforce and Affinity need Pro.
- Yearly plans are paid up front and cannot be downgraded or switched to monthly billing until the year is over.
- More than 50,000 records in sync means booking a demo instead of buying online.
Key features
Sheetgo
- Spreadsheet-to-spreadsheet automations
- An automation sends data from a source file to a destination file. It works with Google Sheets, Excel, CSV and TSV files kept in Google Drive, OneDrive, SharePoint or Dropbox.
- Merge, split and filter
- Data processors merge several files into one, split one file out to many, and filter which rows are transferred. The pricing page also lists an AI Processor among them.
- Schedules and triggers
- Automations run on a schedule or when a form is submitted, a webhook fires or a file or folder changes. Each run uses automation credits from the plan's monthly allowance.
- Documents, PDFs and emails
- Workflows can generate Google Docs and PDFs and send personalized emails from spreadsheet data, as well as moving the data itself.
- Workflows with forms and dashboards
- The Workflows product, used in the web app, adds forms, approvals, dashboards, a workflow view and team management for processes several people share.
- Add-ons for Google Sheets and Excel
- Sheetgo opens as a sidebar inside a Google Sheets file or an Excel workbook, where automations can be created, scheduled and managed without leaving the spreadsheet.
Whalesync
- Two-way sync
- A sync connects two apps. You map tables and fields, choose a direction for each, and turn it on; changes on either side are then written to the other as they happen.
- Records-in-sync pricing
- A record counts once when it first syncs, and is not counted again for the second app. Updates to synced records are unlimited, as are mappings and active syncs.
- Linked records, rich text and images
- Syncs carry multi-reference fields, rich text and images, which lets a spreadsheet act as the content source for a site built in Webflow, Framer or WordPress.
- Issues and operation logs
- Records that cannot sync appear on an Issues page with the exact error from the destination app, while the rest keep syncing. Email alerts and operation logs are included.
- Live Export
- A read-only copy of data from tools such as HubSpot, Shopify, Stripe, Linear and QuickBooks, kept up to date in Airtable, Google Sheets, Notion or Supabase. Included on every plan.
- API and MCP server
- The documentation covers an API reference and an MCP server, so syncs can be managed from code or from an AI agent as well as the web app.
