UiPath report card

2.8GPA

Good · out of 4.0 · graded Oct 9, 2026

Best for robots that work old desktop apps for big companies

UiPath is the big name in software robots: programs that click through your apps the way a person would, old desktop ones included. It wraps AI agents, document reading and process mining around them, and there's a free Community plan to learn on. But past the $25 Basic plan every price comes from a sales call, so this is one for companies, not for a quick weekend fix.

Who UiPath is for

  • Great if your company runs on old desktop apps, since the robots work the screens like a person would
  • Handy when one process needs robots, AI agents and a human sign-off in the same flow
  • Good for IT teams that have to host it themselves, which Standard and Enterprise allow

Who UiPath is not for

  • Skip it if you just want two web apps to talk to each other, as that's a job for Zapier or n8n
  • Not for you if you want to see a price first, because Standard and Enterprise are quoted by sales
  • Tight if you're on Basic, with 2 robots, 1 tenant and hosting in the European region only

Why UiPath gets a 2.8

Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.

  • CValue for moneyBasic starts at $25 a month, and UiPath's page doesn't say what that's charged per. Agents and document processing only start on Standard, and that price comes from a sales call.
  • BFree plan and trialThe Community plan is free forever, and you can build and run automations on it with Studio and Maestro. Help comes from the community forum. The listing doesn't give its limits, so we can't say how far it stretches.
  • AFeaturesRobots that work screens on Windows and Mac, legacy systems and Citrix included. Then AI agents, document processing, process mining and Maestro, which runs robots, agents and people in one process. That's the whole job and more.
  • CEase of useNo App Store rating to go on. And this is a platform, not an app: robots, Studio, tenants and BPMN process models all need learning before anything runs. Autopilot does turn a plain-English prompt into a workflow, which helps.
  • BPlatforms and integrationsStudio Web runs in a browser and the desktop side covers Windows, Mac and Linux. Standard and Enterprise can be hosted on your own Kubernetes or Linux machines too. No phone apps on the listing.

What is UiPath?

UiPath is an enterprise automation platform built around robotic process automation (RPA): software robots that operate applications through their user interfaces. Around that core it adds AI agents, document processing, process mining and Maestro, which orchestrates agents, robots and people in one process. It runs as a cloud service or self-hosted, with a free Community plan and Standard and Enterprise plans priced by its sales team.

UiPath has a free plan. Paid plans start at $25 per month (Basic plan; billing basis not stated). See every plan

Good for

  • Enterprises automating work across legacy desktop applications
  • Programs that combine robots, AI agents and human approvals
  • Organizations that need a dedicated or self-hosted deployment

Worth knowing

  • Standard and Enterprise prices are not published; both are quoted by UiPath's sales team.
  • Basic is capped at 5 Basic, 5 Plus and 1 Pro user, 2 robots and 1 tenant, and is hosted only in UiPath's European region.
  • The pricing page says Basic is evolving and an updated plan is coming soon, and it does not state what the $25 starting price is charged per.
  • Self-healing automation is an extra purchase on Standard, and live process monitoring, simulation and customer-managed encryption keys need Enterprise.

Key features

UI automation with robots
Robots work with screens and data the way a person would, using AI Computer Vision and selectors on Windows and macOS, and reach legacy systems and virtual environments such as Citrix.
Studio and Studio Web
Automations are built low-code or code-first. Studio Web creates and edits them in the browser, and the desktop experience works across Windows, macOS and Linux.
Agents and Maestro
Agents handle variable work that fixed rules cannot. Maestro models a process in BPMN and orchestrates agents, robots, API workflows and human tasks within it.
Autopilot and Healing Agent
Autopilot turns natural-language prompts into workflows, code and expressions. Healing Agent suggests fixes for broken automations and repairs UI issues at runtime.
Document processing and mining
From the Standard plan, UiPath classifies and extracts data from documents and communications, and offers Process Mining, Task Mining and Automation Hub.
Cloud, dedicated or self-hosted
Automation Cloud is the SaaS version. Standard and Enterprise can instead be self-hosted on your own Kubernetes or Linux machines, and Enterprise can buy a dedicated cloud.
