Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

3.0

GPA, above 38 of the 48 other AI meeting note takers we grade

Transkriptor converts audio and video to text in more than 100 languages, from uploaded files, YouTube links, live recordings and online meetings. A meeting bot joins Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams calls, and a desktop app for Mac and Windows records them without a bot. Transcripts come with speaker labels and translation, and Pro adds AI summaries and a chat assistant. Usage is metered in monthly minutes.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Transkriptor, taken from its own pages and our grades.

Upload a file or paste a link and the transcript comes back, and the desktop app spots a meeting and records it without being asked.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for turning audio and video files into text

Transkriptor is a transcription service first and a meeting notetaker second: feed it a file, a YouTube link or a live call and you get text in more than 100 languages with speakers labeled.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $8.33 a month

As its pricing page puts it: $8.33 per month, billed annually ($99.99 per year).

  3. 3

    You can try it first

Free account with 90 minutes of transcription to try the service

  4. 4

    It runs on 5 platforms

Web, macOS, Windows, iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.

  5. 5

    File and link transcription

Upload audio or video such as MP3, MP4 and WAV, or paste a YouTube, Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox link. Transcripts export as TXT, SRT or Word.

  6. 6

    Meeting bot or bot-free recorder

A bot can join Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams calls. The desktop app for Windows and Mac detects a meeting and records from the device, so no bot appears in the call.

  7. 7

    AI summaries and templates

From Pro, each recording gets a summary, key takeaways and action items. Summary templates cover sales, marketing and education, or you can create your own format.

  8. 8

    A 3.0 GPA, above 38 of 48

That is against the other AI meeting note takers we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

To replace Transkriptor you would be making a bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for turning audio and video files into text

Transkriptor is a transcription service first and a meeting notetaker second: feed it a file, a YouTube link or a live call and you get text in more than 100 languages with speakers labeled. There's no free plan, only 90 trial minutes, every plan is metered with no rollover, and summaries and AI chat don't start until Pro. Pro is $8.33 a month on the yearly plan but $19.99 if you pay monthly.

ToolGPA report cardTranskriptorGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCPro is $8.33 a month billed yearly ($99.99) for 2,400 minutes, just past the low end of this category and in its middle. Pay monthly and it's $19.99. Lite is $9.99 for 300 minutes with no AI summaries. Every plan is metered and unused minutes don't roll over.
Free plan and trialCThere's no free plan to settle on. A free account hands you 90 minutes of transcription to try the service — an hour and a half, so two or three meetings — and that's the whole of it. A cap you'll hit in the first week.
FeaturesBIt covers the job end to end: files, YouTube and Drive links, a bot for Zoom, Meet and Teams, or the Mac and Windows app recording with no bot in the call. Over 100 languages, speaker labels, translation, and from Pro summaries, templates and AI chat that cites its source. Nothing its rivals don't also do, though.
Ease of useA4.7 from about 1,100 App Store ratings, which is enough people for the number to mean something. Upload a file or paste a link and the transcript comes back, and the desktop app spots a meeting and records it without being asked.
Platforms and integrationsAWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android and a browser extension — the lot. It also hooks into Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Google Drive, Dropbox, Slack, HubSpot and Notion.
Grade point averageVery good, out of 4.03.0

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

  • Pricey if you pay monthly, at $19.99 for Pro against $8.33 a month on the yearly plan
  • Skip it if you want summaries or AI chat on Lite, because both start on Pro
  • Tight if you transcribe a lot: 300 minutes on Lite, 2,400 on Pro, 3,000 a seat on Team, and unused minutes don't roll over
  • Watch out: the promise not to train on your data is listed only from Pro up, and Lite is billed monthly only

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Transkriptor you would be making a bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.0 is higher than 38 of the 48 other AI meeting note takers we grade. It costs $99.96 a year.

What you could make

  • Templates: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • A bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes.
  • An AI model, which you can rent by the request but not make.
  • Speech turned into text you can trust.
  • Recording the screen with its sound, and somewhere to keep the video.
  • Apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • It plugs into other products, Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams among them, and has an API.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Transkriptor’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
