Best for turning audio and video files into text

Transkriptor is a transcription service first and a meeting notetaker second: feed it a file, a YouTube link or a live call and you get text in more than 100 languages, with the speakers labelled and translation on tap. Pro is $8.33 a month on the yearly plan for 2,400 minutes. There's no free plan to stay on, though, only 90 trial minutes, and summaries and AI chat don't start until Pro.

Who Transkriptor is for

  • Great if you have a pile of audio and video files to turn into text, not only live meetings
  • Handy when you're a student or researcher, since education plans are 50% off
  • Good for multilingual work that needs transcripts translated

Who Transkriptor is not for

  • Not for you if you want a free plan to stay on, as the free account is a 90-minute trial
  • Pricey if you pay monthly, at $19.99 for Pro against $8.33 a month on the yearly plan
  • Skip it if you want summaries on the cheapest plan, because Lite doesn't include them

Why Transkriptor gets a 3.4

Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.

  • BValue for moneyPro is $8.33 a month billed yearly ($99.99) for 2,400 minutes, which is plenty of minutes for ordinary money. Pay monthly and it's $19.99. Lite is $9.99 for 300 minutes and has no AI summaries. Every plan is metered, and unused minutes don't roll over.
  • CFree plan and trialNo free plan to live on. A free account comes with 90 minutes of transcription to try the service, and that's the lot before you pay.
  • AFeaturesUpload audio or video, or paste a YouTube, Google Drive or Dropbox link, and export as TXT, SRT or Word. A bot joins Zoom, Meet and Teams, or the desktop app records without one. Pro adds summaries, your own templates, and AI chat that cites the moment an answer came from.
  • AEase of use4.7 from about 1,100 App Store ratings. Upload a file or paste a link and the transcript comes back, and the desktop app spots a meeting and records it for you.
  • APlatforms and integrationsWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android and a browser extension. It connects to Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Google Drive, Dropbox, Slack, HubSpot and Notion.

Key features

File and link transcription
Upload audio or video such as MP3, MP4 and WAV, or paste a YouTube, Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox link. Transcripts export as TXT, SRT or Word.

Call analysis
The Team plan adds speaker talk time, sentiment detection and AI filters, plus analytics that track how the team uses its minutes.
