Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

3.0

GPA, above 38 of the 48 other AI meeting note takers we grade

Voicenotes records meetings, voice memos and dictation, then transcribes them and writes summaries, action items and next steps. Nothing joins the call: it records from its own apps on Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android, the web and smartwatches. An Ask AI feature answers questions across everything you have recorded, and the free Basic plan includes 100 transcription minutes a week.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Voicenotes, taken from its own pages and our grades.

There's no bot to invite either: you press record when the meeting starts and the notes are waiting when it ends.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

As its pricing page puts it: $9 per user / month; billing basis not stated.

Web, macOS, Windows, iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.

  5. 5

  6. 6

When the meeting ends you get a summary, action items and next steps alongside the recording and transcript, ready to share as a link or export as a PDF.

  7. 7

    Ask AI across your notes

Ask a question and get an answer drawn from every conversation and memo you have recorded, or turn a meeting into a follow-up email, report or to-do list.

That is against the other AI meeting note takers we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

To replace Voicenotes you would be making a bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for meetings, voice memos and dictation in one app

Voicenotes is one app for recording meetings with no bot in the call, catching voice memos and typing with your voice, and Ask AI answers questions from everything you've recorded. Free transcribes 100 minutes a week and hides notes older than 30 days, and dictation, imports and the MCP server are Pro. The $9 Pro price comes with no word on monthly or yearly billing, the iPhone app lists $14.99 a month, and the Windows app is a beta.

ToolGPA report cardVoicenotesGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCPro is $9 a user a month for unlimited transcription, dictation and history, the middle of the road for this category. The pricing page won't say whether that's billed monthly or yearly, and the US App Store lists the in-app subscription at $14.99 a month and up to $99.99 a year.
Free plan and trialCBasic records as much as you like but transcribes 100 minutes a week, which is two hour-long meetings, and hides everything older than 30 days until you pay. Dictation, audio imports and real-time notes are Pro too. Caps you'll meet in week one.
FeaturesBIt does the whole job: hit record and nothing joins the call, so any meeting app works and so does a table in person. Summary, action items and next steps afterwards, a share link or PDF, and Ask AI answering from every recording you've made. Memos and dictation live in the same app.
Ease of useA4.77 from about 7,100 App Store ratings. There's no bot to invite either: you press record when the meeting starts and the notes are waiting when it ends.
Platforms and integrationsAMac, Windows, iPhone, Android, the web, smartwatches and a browser extension. It connects to Zapier, Notion, Obsidian, Todoist and Readwise, with webhooks and an MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT. The Windows app is still labelled a beta.
Grade point averageVery good, out of 4.03.0

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Voicenotes is for

  • Fits if you want one app for meetings, voice memos and dictation
  • Works for meetings where a recording bot sitting in the call wouldn't go down well

Who it is not for

  • Tight if you're staying free: 100 transcription minutes a week, and notes older than 30 days are hidden until you upgrade
  • Skip it if you want dictation, audio imports or real-time notes without paying, as Basic gets only a one-time dictation allowance
  • Pricey if you subscribe in the iPhone app, where the US store lists $14.99 a month against $9 on the pricing page
  • Watch out: the pricing page doesn't say whether the $9 is billed monthly or yearly
  • Not for you if you need SSO or SCIM without paying $24 a user for Enterprise, and the Windows app is still a beta

Good to know

Good for

  • People who want one app for meetings, voice memos and dictation
  • Meetings where a visible recording bot is not acceptable
  • Capturing notes from a phone or smartwatch as well as a computer

Worth knowing

  • The free Basic plan transcribes 100 minutes a week and shows only the last 30 days of notes. Older notes are stored but hidden until you upgrade.
  • The pricing page gives $9 per user a month without a billing basis. The US App Store lists in-app subscriptions at $14.99 a month and up to $99.99 a year.
  • Dictation, audio imports, real-time notes, the MCP server and advanced integrations need Pro.
  • SSO, SCIM and consent management are Enterprise features at $24 per user a month. The Windows desktop app is labeled a beta.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Voicenotes you would be making a bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.0 is higher than 38 of the 48 other AI meeting note takers we grade. It costs $108 a year.

What you could make

  • Notes: an app builder makes this well.

What you could not

  • A bot that joins your calls and turns the talk into notes.
  • Dictation that types into any app on your computer.
  • An AI model, which you can rent by the request but not make.
  • Speech turned into text you can trust.
  • Apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
  • It is priced for each person, which means accounts and billing for a team.
  • It plugs into other products, Zapier, Notion and Obsidian among them.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Voicenotes’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
