Who each one suits
invideo
- Editors who want AI to do repetitive cuts on their own footage
- Teams editing the same video together in real time
- Making ads and social cuts with generated shots and voiceover
Runway
- Video makers who want to edit real footage by describing the change
- Creators who want several leading video models under one subscription
- Small creative teams sharing one credit pool and brand kits
Worth knowing
invideo
- The annual prices are shown as 50% off the monthly ones, with no end date given; monthly billing doubles the cost.
- Plan credits reset monthly, even on annual plans, and do not roll over; extra credits last up to 12 months or until the subscription ends.
- Refunds are given only within 7 days and only if nothing was generated or downloaded in that billing period.
- Manual timeline editing and exports do not use credits; generation is billed per model at the provider's list price, so a Veo 3.1 4K clip costs far more than a Kling one.
Runway
- Credits run out fast on video: Gen-4.5 costs 12 credits a second, so Standard's 625 credits make under a minute of it.
- Standard and Pro credits reset each month with no rollover; extra credits are sold in packs of at least 1,000 and never expire.
- The Team plan needs at least 2 seats and stops at 9; larger groups are sent to Enterprise sales.
- The free plan's 125 credits are a one-time grant and are not refilled.
Key features
invideo
- Editing agent on a real timeline
- Describe an edit in plain words and the agent applies it to every shot on a multitrack timeline, from cutting pauses to matching the look; you can take over at any frame.
- Searchable footage memory
- The editing agent watches and logs every uploaded clip, so a moment can be found by describing it rather than scrubbing.
- Agents & Models
- Generate video and images with Seedance, Veo, Kling, Sora, Nano Banana, Ideogram and others, plus ElevenLabs voices, music and voice cloning.
- Multiplayer editing
- Several people edit one project at once with live cursors and comments on the timeline.
- Script and storyboard
- Write a script with an AI co-writer and turn it into a shot-by-shot plan before generating anything.
- Bring your own agent
- Connect Claude, ChatGPT Codex or Grok to the editor through invideo's MCP so they trim, grade and mix on your timeline.
Runway
- Gen-4.5 and partner models
- Runway's own Gen-4.5 video and Gen-4 image models sit beside Kling, Seedance, Wan, FLUX and Nano Banana, each with its own credit price.
- Aleph 2.0 video editing
- Change a shot's lighting, restyle it, or add and remove elements by describing the change; edit one frame and carry it through the clip.
- Runway Agent
- An agent on every paid plan that plans and generates a whole video from a conversation, with shared agent skills on the Team plan.
- Audio and voice
- Music, sound effects and text-to-speech from models such as Lyria 3 and Eleven v4, plus custom voice clones on Pro and Max.
- Plugins and MCP
- Generate and extend footage inside Premiere Pro, After Effects and Resolve, or call Runway from ChatGPT, Claude and other MCP agents.
