Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.4

GPA, above 20 of the 79 other project management tools we grade

Avaza is a work management platform that combines project and task management with resource scheduling, timesheets, expense tracking, quotes and invoicing, and team chat. Tasks can be viewed as lists, kanban boards or Gantt charts, and tracked time and expenses can be added to client invoices. Plans are flat monthly prices that include a set number of users for each role, with extra users sold as add-ons.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Avaza, taken from its own pages and our grades.

Nothing to install at least: it's a responsive web app.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for projects, timesheets and invoices in one place

Avaza combines projects, timesheets, expenses, quotes and invoicing, so tracked hours can go onto a client's invoice, on flat plans from $9.96 a month billed annually.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $9.96 a month

As its pricing page puts it: $9.96 / month, billed annually ($119.50 a year).

  3. 3

    There is a free plan

5 active projects, 10 customers, 5 invoices and bills a month, 100 MB of storage, and 1 user each for timesheets, admin/finance and resource scheduling.

  4. 4

    It runs on 3 platforms

    Web, iOS and Android.

  5. 5

Tasks in lists, boards and Gantt charts

Tasks carry priorities, deadlines and assignees and can be viewed as a list, a kanban board or a Gantt chart, grouped by project, assignee or priority.

  6. 6

    Resource scheduling

A drag-and-drop schedule books people onto projects, with an availability bar that shows who is under or over capacity. Leave and public holidays can be added.

  7. 7

    Timesheets and timers

Time is logged with a start-stop timer or entered by day or week, marked billable or not, and compared with task estimates. Customers can approve timesheets.

  8. 8

    A 2.4 GPA, above 20 of 79

That is against the other project management tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  9. 9

    Keep it

To replace Avaza you would be making chat that a whole team counts on staying up. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for projects, timesheets and invoices in one place

Avaza combines projects, timesheets, expenses, quotes and invoicing, so tracked hours can go onto a client's invoice, on flat plans from $9.96 a month billed annually. Each plan includes a set number of users per role, extras are $7 a month each, every plan has 1 scheduling user, and the phone apps only track time. The free plan stops at 1 timesheet user and 5 projects.

ToolGPA report cardAvazaGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCStartup is a flat $9.96 a month billed annually, $11.95 month to month. That's ordinary money here: a shade under this category's dearer quarter of $10 and well above its $5.10 low end. And the flat price covers 2 timesheet users and 1 admin, with every extra $7 a month.
Free plan and trialCFree gives unlimited project collaborators and 5 active projects, then stops: 1 user who can log time, 10 customers, 5 invoices and bills a month and 100 MB of storage. A freelancer with a few clients will manage; nobody else will.
FeaturesBProjects right through to getting paid: tasks as lists, kanban boards or Gantt charts, a drag-and-drop schedule showing who's over capacity, timers and timesheets, expenses by emailed receipt, quotes, and invoices people can pay online. Team chat too.
Ease of useCNo App Store rating on record, and picking a plan is its own little job, since each one counts users separately for timesheets, admin, scheduling and chat. Nothing to install at least: it's a responsive web app.
Platforms and integrationsBA responsive web app, with iPhone and Android apps that only do time tracking, so running a project means a browser. It connects to Xero, QuickBooks, Stripe, Slack, Zapier, Google Drive, Dropbox and Jira, and there's a public API.
Grade point averageFair, out of 4.02.4

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Avaza is for

  • Fits if you're a consultancy or agency that bills clients for tracked time
  • Works for businesses with lots of outside collaborators, who are free on every plan

Who it is not for

  • Not for you if you want to run projects from a phone app, as the mobile apps are for time tracking
  • Tight if you're staying free with a team: 1 user can log time, with 5 active projects, 5 invoices a month and 100 MB
  • Skip it if several people book resources, as every plan includes 1 scheduling user and more are $7 a month each
  • Watch out: each plan counts users per role, so extra timesheet or admin users are $7 a month each on top of the flat price
  • Tight if your team chats in it, as every plan includes 5 chat members and more are paid add-ons

Good to know

Good for

  • Consultancies and agencies that bill clients for tracked time
  • Small teams that want projects, timesheets and invoicing in one tool
  • Businesses with many outside collaborators, who are free on every plan

Worth knowing

  • Plans include a fixed number of users per role; extra timesheet, scheduling or admin/finance users cost $7 a month each.
  • The Free plan stops at 5 active projects, 10 customers, 5 invoices and bills a month and 100 MB of storage.
  • Every plan includes only 1 resource scheduling user and 5 chat members; more are paid add-ons.
  • The iOS and Android apps are for time tracking. The pricing page describes the rest as a responsive web app with no software to install.

It stands best on features (B, above 27 of 79) and worst on ease of use (C, above 2).

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace Avaza you would be making chat that a whole team counts on staying up. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 38 of the 79 other project management tools grade higher. It costs $119.52 a year.

What you could make

  • Kanban boards, Gantt & timelines, time tracking, invoicing and reports: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Chat that a whole team counts on staying up.
  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • It plugs into other products, Xero, QuickBooks and Stripe among them, and has an API.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. Avaza’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
