Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

2.6

GPA, above 48 of the 123 other to-do list apps we grade

Nudge is a reminder app from Home Suite Home for things done on a regular schedule, such as taking medicine or putting out the trash. Each reminder, called a nudge, gets a time, the days of the week it repeats on, a sound, and a name, color and icon. The app is free with ads on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and a Pro subscription removes the ads and adds iCloud sync plus more icons and sounds.

To get you started, here are 9 things to know about Nudge, taken from its own pages and our grades.

That's the whole app: there are no lists or tasks, and its maker says it isn't meant to replace a calendar.
From our report card of Nudge
  1. 1

Best for alarm-style reminders for weekly routines

Nudge sets reminders that go off at a set time on the weekdays you pick, like bins on Tuesday or tablets at eight.

  2. 2

Paid plans start at $1.67 a month when paid by the year

As its pricing page puts it: $1.99 per month, or $19.99 per year (US App Store).

  3. 3

The free version creates repeating reminders with sounds, colors and icons and is supported by ads. iCloud sync and the extra icons and sounds need Pro.

  4. 4

    It runs on 2 platforms

    iOS and macOS.

  5. 5

    Reminders that repeat by weekday

Each nudge has a time of day and repeats on any day or mix of days of the week, such as every day, weekdays only or weekends.

  6. 6

    Sounds and a 5-minute warning

A nudge plays a sound picked from a built-in library, from short and subtle to loud, and an optional warning bell can ring 5 minutes ahead of it.

  7. 7

    Names, colors and icons

Every nudge is given a name, a color and an icon so it can be recognized at a glance. Pro unlocks more icons and sounds.

The report card

Best for alarm-style reminders for weekly routines

Nudge sets reminders that go off at a set time on the weekdays you pick, like bins on Tuesday or tablets at eight. That's the whole app: there are no lists or tasks, and its maker says it isn't meant to replace a calendar. The free version shows ads, sync between your devices needs Pro at $1.99 a month, it's Apple only, and iOS caps it at 64 pending reminders.

ToolGPA report cardNudgeGraded Oct 10, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyB$1.99 a month, or $19.99 a year at about $1.67 a month, which keeps it inside this category's cheaper quarter of $2.42. What it buys is modest, mind: no ads, iCloud sync and extra icons and sounds, shareable with family Apple IDs.
Free plan and trialBThe free version has repeating reminders, sounds, colours and icons. Two things push you towards Pro: the ads, and the lack of sync, so your iPhone and your Mac each keep their own schedule.
FeaturesCIt does its one thing completely: a time, any mix of weekdays, a sound, a warning bell 5 minutes ahead, and muting one nudge or the lot for a day off. But that is a much smaller job than this category's, with no lists or tasks, and iOS caps it at 64 pending reminders.
Ease of useBNo store rating on record, but there's nothing to set up: a nudge is a name, a time, some weekdays and a sound. Siri will make one without the app being opened, and a widget shows the day's schedule.
Platforms and integrationsCOne family of devices: iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision, with iCloud and Siri as the only connections. No Android, Windows or web version on record.
Grade point averageGood, out of 4.02.6

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who Nudge is for

  • Fits if your chores repeat by weekday and never make it onto a calendar
  • Works for medicine, pet care or school pickup that needs an alarm at the same time each day

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you use Android or Windows, as it's Apple devices only
  • Too light for meetings and appointments, which the vendor says belong in a calendar
  • Not for you if ads bother you and you won't pay, since the free version shows them
  • Tight if you use two devices, as iCloud sync between them needs Pro
  • Watch out: iOS holds at most 64 pending reminders for the app, so a busy schedule can outgrow it

Good to know

Good for

  • Chores and routines that repeat by weekday and never reach a calendar
  • Medication, pet care and school pickup times
  • People who want an alarm-style reminder set up in a few taps

Worth knowing

  • Apple devices only: the App Store lists iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision, with no Android, Windows or web version.
  • The free version shows ads, and syncing nudges between devices through iCloud needs the Pro subscription.
  • Nudges are set by time and day of the week; the vendor says the app is not meant to replace a calendar for meetings and appointments.
  • The release notes say iOS holds at most 64 pending reminders for the app; it now warns when a schedule outgrows that limit.

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Your call

A to-do list at its plainest is tasks with dates, repeats and a box to tick.

You could make the core of Nudge for yourself: tasks and habit tracking. What you would give up is listed below. Whether that is worth the price is your call. At $19.99 a year it costs less than the weekend it would take to replace, which is the argument for keeping it.

What you could make

  • Tasks and habit tracking: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Apps for macOS and iOS that stay in step with each other.
  • Hooks into the device itself: widgets, Siri and the lock screen.

What this rests on. Nudge’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
