Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
3.4
GPA, above 15 of the 17 other password managers we grade
RoboForm is a password manager from Siber Systems that saves logins, generates passwords and fills long web forms with one click. The free plan stores unlimited passwords on a single device, and Premium adds syncing across devices, web access, shared folders and emergency access. A Business plan with an admin center, policies, single sign-on and SCIM provisioning is sold per user.
To get you started, here are 9 things to know about RoboForm, taken from its own pages and our grades.
Paid plans are billed yearly only, Linux and Chrome OS get the extension only, and on iPhone it pushes its own browser.
- 1
Best for people who fill in a lot of web forms
But the free plan works on one device only, so a phone and a laptop means paying, when Bitwarden and Proton Pass sync for nothing.
- 2
Paid plans start at $2.49 a month
As its pricing page puts it: $2.49 per month, billed annually at $29.88 (Premium).
- 3
There is a free plan
Unlimited passwords on a single device, with one-click logins, form filling, a password generator, cloud backup, a compromised password scan and a built-in TOTP authenticator.
- 4
It runs on 5 platforms
Web, macOS, Windows, iOS and Android, with a browser extension too.
- 5
One-click logins and form filling
Logs you in to websites and completes long online forms, such as checkout pages, with a single click. RoboForm captures new passwords automatically.
- 6
Password generator and Security Center
Creates a unique password for each site and identifies weak, reused or compromised passwords, with suggestions for replacing them.
- 7
Passkeys and built-in authenticator
Manages and uses passkeys, stores and fills TOTP codes, and can itself be unlocked with a passkey verified by face, fingerprint or device PIN.
- 8
A 3.4 GPA, above 15 of 17
That is against the other password managers we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 9
Keep it
To replace RoboForm you would be making a password vault, the last thing anyone should make for themselves. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for people who fill in a lot of web forms
RoboForm is a password manager, around since 2000, that fills long web forms in one click and saves logins, at $2.49 a month billed as $29.88 a year. But the free plan works on one device only, so a phone and a laptop means paying, when Bitwarden and Proton Pass sync for nothing. Paid plans are billed yearly only, Linux and Chrome OS get the extension only, and on iPhone it pushes its own browser.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B | Premium is $2.49 a month, billed as $29.88 a year, which is the bottom quarter of this category, and Business at $3.33 a person includes single sign-on. Bitwarden is still cheaper if it's just you, at $19.80. |
| Free plan and trial | C | Unlimited passwords, form filling and a built-in authenticator, free for good, but the wall is right there: one device, no syncing. Phone and laptop means paying, and Bitwarden syncs everywhere for nothing. |
| Features | A | Fills long forms in one click from several saved identities and logs you in to Windows programs as well as websites, which no other tool here lists. Passkeys, one-time codes, sharing, emergency access and a local-only mode are in, though the last three need Premium. |
| Ease of use | A | 4.73 from about 48,800 App Store ratings, the top band. It has its own habits, like wanting to be your browser on the iPhone, and one reviewer's import left duplicate logins named Login[92] and Login[93]. |
| Platforms and integrations | A | Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android, Apple Watch, the web and Chrome, Edge and Firefox, with business hooks into Microsoft Entra, Okta, Google Workspace, Ping and OneLogin. Linux and Chrome OS only get the extension. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who RoboForm is for
- Fits if you type the same address and card details into forms all week
- Works for small companies that want single sign-on and SCIM on one plan at $3.33 a person a month
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you want free syncing between phone and laptop, as Free is one device
- Not for you if you're on Linux or Chrome OS and want more than a browser extension
- Tight if you'd rather pay month by month, because paid plans are billed yearly
- Watch out: the $19.90 first-year Premium price renews at $29.88, and the sale shows no end date
- Not for you if you want to host it yourself, unless you're a company of 1,000 or more on Enterprise
Good to know
Good for
- People who fill in a lot of web forms and want them completed in one click
- Single-device users who want unlimited passwords at no cost
- Businesses that want every feature in one per-user plan
Worth knowing
- The Free plan is limited to a single device; access on all devices, web access and shared folders need Premium.
- On Linux and Chrome OS RoboForm is offered only as a browser extension; the desktop apps are for Windows 10/11 and macOS 12 and up.
- Paid plans are quoted per month but billed annually, and the pricing pages show no monthly billing option.
- Self-hosting is available only on Enterprise, for environments of 1,000 or more users.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace RoboForm you would be making a password vault, the last thing anyone should make for themselves. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.4 is higher than 15 of the 17 other password managers we grade. It costs $29.88 a year.
What you could not
- A password vault, the last thing anyone should make for themselves.
- Passkeys, which rest on security you cannot improvise.
- Apps for macOS, Windows, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
- It plugs into other products, Microsoft Entra, Okta and Google Workspace among them.
- What a company asks for before it lets staff use something: single sign-on, SCIM and audit logs.
- The depth: we grade its features A, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. RoboForm’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
