Unitel Voice is a virtual phone system for small US businesses: a toll-free, local or vanity number with an auto attendant, extensions, call routing and voicemail transcription, used from the iPhone and Android apps or forwarded to any phone. Plans are a flat monthly price per account with unlimited calling and texting, and the top plan adds desktop softphones and desk phones.
To get you started, here are 8 things to know about Unitel Voice, taken from its own pages and our grades.
Greetings, extensions and routing get set up in a web dashboard before the phones are much use.

The report card
Best for a cheap auto attendant for small US businesses
Unitel Voice gives a small US business a toll-free or local number with an auto attendant, extensions and unlimited calls and texts, for a flat monthly price. For a team of five on the Team plan that's under $3 each. The catch: no trial, no integrations, and call recording costs extra.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | A | Team is $13.99 a month billed yearly with unlimited users on its plan card, about $2.80 a head for five. Want desktop softphones? Office is $20.99 for 3 users plus $9.99 each, about $8.19 a head. On your own, Solo is $6.99. |
| Free plan and trial | F | No free plan and no free trial. Every plan has a 30-day money-back guarantee and no contract, but a refund isn't a trial. |
| Features | C | An auto attendant, extensions, ring groups, business-hours routing, voicemail transcripts and unlimited calls and texts. It does the virtual phone job fully, but recording, conference calls and extra numbers are add-ons, and there are no integrations. |
| Ease of use | C | No App Store rating on record. Greetings, extensions and routing get set up in a web dashboard before the phones are much use. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | iPhone and Android apps and a web dashboard, with desktop softphones and desk phones on Office. No integrations on record. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Unitel Voice you would be making phone numbers and calls carried over the phone network. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 12 of the 19 other business phone systems grade higher. It costs $83.88 a year.
What you could not
- Phone numbers and calls carried over the phone network.
- Texts from a business number, registered with the carriers.
- Speech turned into text you can trust.
- A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
What this rests on. Unitel Voice’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
