How we grade them
| 2.0GPAKrispCallFair | 2.2GPATextlineFair | |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | B$12 a head for five on Starter, billed yearly ($15 monthly), inside this category's cheaper quarter ($14). Starter stops at 5 users, though, so a sixth person means Advance at $32. | CNo published base price: sales quotes it. With no figure it sits at the ordinary grade, and there's no per-head cost for five to give. The add-ons hint it isn't cheap: extra agents are $50 a month on Essentials and $70 on Pro. |
| Free plan and trial | FNo free plan and no free trial. There's a 14-day refund on the subscription only, not on numbers, credits or add-ons, and a refund isn't a trial. | CA 14-day free trial with no credit card needed to sign up. No free plan. |
| Features | CCalls, texts, multi-level IVR and call monitoring on every plan, with a power dialer and bulk SMS from Advance. The gap is the minutes: Starter bundles 200 outbound and 200 inbound a person, and call transcripts are an add-on. | CA shared texting inbox, text-enabled landlines, automations, announcements, surveys, webchat and Facebook and Instagram messages. It does texting fully, but that's a smaller job than this category's: no voice calling, and calls only forward elsewhere. |
| Ease of use | CNo App Store rating on record. There's A2P registration to finish before US texting works, and minutes and credits to keep an eye on. | CNo App Store rating on record. There's a landline to text-enable or a number to set up, plus registration for local numbers. |
| Platforms and integrations | BA browser dialer, a browser extension and iPhone and Android apps, with HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho, monday.com, Slack and an API. The Windows, Mac and Linux apps are marked coming soon. | BWeb, iPhone, Android and a Chrome extension, with Salesforce, HubSpot, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Slack, Pipedrive, Zapier and Aircall, plus an API. No desktop app. |
| Best for | cheap per-person numbers with minutes included | teams answering customers by text |

Worth knowing
KrispCall
- There is no free trial or free plan; paid plans carry a 14-day refund on the subscription only, not on numbers, credits or add-ons.
- Starter is capped at 5 users and Advance at 50. The desktop apps for Windows, Mac and Linux are marked coming soon.
- Texting US numbers needs A2P 10DLC registration: a $4.50 brand fee and a $15 vetting fee once, then $1.50 or $2 a month per campaign.
- The pricing FAQ still says calls and SMS are billed pay-as-you-go, while the plan cards list included minutes and texts; usage beyond them is billed from credit.
Textline
- Textline publishes no base plan prices; sales quotes them. Extra agents are $50 a month on Essentials and $70 on Pro, and extra numbers $15 a month.
- There is no voice calling: Textline numbers can only forward calls elsewhere.
- Essentials includes 600 message credits a month and Pro 2,000; more cost $0.03 each in advance or $0.04 as automatic backup credits, and an MMS uses 3.
- A 10-digit local number adds a $15 monthly campaign registration fee; toll-free numbers have no monthly registration fee.
Key features
KrispCall
- Free number per user
- Every user gets one local US or Canada number, or a UK local or mobile number, at no charge. Numbers in 100+ other countries cost extra and need ID checks.
- Included minutes and texts
- Plans bundle outbound calls to local US, Canada, UK and Australia numbers, inbound minutes and pooled US/Canada SMS segments, under a fair-use policy.
- IVR and call monitoring
- Multi-level IVR on every plan, and call monitoring and coaching from Starter up: listening, whispering and barging into live calls.
- Power dialer and bulk SMS
- Advance and Max add a power dialer, bulk SMS campaigns, call recording with unlimited storage, and API and webhook access.
- AI tools
- AI rephrasing of SMS from Starter up; call transcripts and summaries are an add-on, and KrispCall also sells an AI Copilot and an AI Voice Agent.
- CRM integrations
- 100+ integrations including HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho, monday.com and Slack; Salesforce needs Advance or higher.
Textline
- Shared texting inbox
- Agents share one inbox for SMS and MMS, with departments for separate numbers, claiming, dispositions, whispers and tags.
- Text-enabled landlines
- Most existing landline numbers can be text-enabled without losing calls; a ported cell number loses voice and native texting.
- Automations and announcements
- Automatic replies, scheduled messages and one-to-many announcements on every plan; routes and timer automations come with Pro.
- Webchat and social messages
- A website chat widget that can move a conversation to SMS, plus Facebook and Instagram messages in the same inbox.
- Surveys
- NPS and CSAT surveys by text on Essentials, and custom surveys on Pro and Enterprise.
- Security and HIPAA
- MFA, consent webforms and sensitive data redaction, with HIPAA-compatible plans offered at a separate base fee.
