| Value for money | BIndividual is $9 a month billed annually, about what tools in this category charge. Team is $10 a user and adds revision history plus the Confluence, Jira and Microsoft 365 integrations. The page gives no monthly price. | BStarter is $8 a member a month billed yearly, right at what whiteboards typically cost, for unlimited and private boards, a timer and voting. The serious diagram shapes and two-way sync with Jira or Asana need Business, at $20. |
| Free plan and trial | BFree forever, with Lucid AI, commenting and presentation mode included. But it's 3 editable documents and 75 shapes per document, so one big process map can hit the shape limit by itself. The 7-day trial of the paid plans wants payment details. | BFree has unlimited team members, templates and the Docs, Tables, Slides and Kanban formats. But only the 3 most recent boards stay editable, every board is open to the whole team, and there are no guest or visitor roles. |
| Features | AShape libraries for flowcharts, UML, ER, network, AWS, Azure and GCP diagrams. Lucid AI drafts from a prompt, data linking builds visuals from Google Sheets, Excel or CSV, and UML markup turns text into a sequence diagram. Paid plans open and export Visio files. | ADocs, tables, timelines, kanban and slides sit beside the sticky notes on every plan. Paid plans add a timer, voting and private mode, AI that draws diagrams and clusters notes, and on Business more than 4,700 shapes for UML, AWS and BPMN. |
| Ease of use | B4.59 from about 5,300 App Store ratings, a whisker under our line for an A. It runs in a browser, so there's nothing to install, and you start from templates and ready-made shapes. | A4.69 from about 5,800 App Store ratings. Templates get a workshop going fast, and anyone who's used a sticky note already knows the basics. |
| Platforms and integrations | AWeb, iOS and Android, with Jira, Confluence, Microsoft 365, Slack, Teams, Notion and Google Drive hooked in, plus a developer platform. One catch: the iOS app needs a Team or Enterprise subscription. | AWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, with 250+ integrations including Jira, Confluence, Slack, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. An MCP server links it to Claude, Cursor and GitHub Copilot. No Linux app is listed. |
| Best for | flowcharts and technical diagrams in a browser | team workshops on one big shared board |

Key features
Lucidchart
- Shape libraries for technical diagrams
- Libraries cover flowcharts, process maps, org charts, UML, ER and network diagrams, plus AWS, Azure and GCP shapes. Premium libraries need a paid plan.
- Lucid AI
- Text prompts generate diagram content on the canvas, and AI can refine a prompt or summarize a document. Lucid AI is listed on every plan, including Free.
- Data linking
- Connect a diagram to Google Sheets, Excel or CSV data to build visuals from the source, then use conditional formatting to highlight patterns in it.
- Diagram from markup
- UML markup generates a sequence diagram from text, and ERD markup and diagram-as-code options let technical users edit the source instead of dragging shapes.
- Collaboration and versioning
- Several people can edit a diagram at once and leave comments. Revision history with versioning is added on the Team plan.
- Visio import and export
- Paid plans open and export Microsoft Visio files, and the Android app can import and view VDX, VSD, VSDM and VSDX formats.
Miro
- Canvas with built-in formats
- Docs, tables, timelines, kanban boards and slides sit on the same board as sticky notes, shapes and drawings, and are available on every plan including Free.
- Diagramming shape libraries
- The Business plan adds more than 4,700 shapes for mapping technical systems, cloud infrastructure and business processes, covering Mermaid, UML, AWS and BPMN.
- Facilitation tools
- From the Starter plan, a timer, voting, private mode and notes support meetings and workshops. Business adds Engage activities such as polls, scales and a 2x2 matrix.
- Miro AI
- Generates diagrams, tables and summaries and clusters sticky notes, paid for with monthly AI credits that do not roll over. AI workflows and agents are part of Business.
- MCP server
- Connects Miro to AI tools such as Claude, Cursor and GitHub Copilot so board content can flow both ways. Daily call limits rise with the plan: 500 on Starter, 2,000 on Business.
- Two-way integrations
- On Business, items from Jira, Asana, Linear, ClickUp and Azure can be planned on the canvas with changes synced in both directions.
