Part 01 · Overview
Welcome
What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first
2.2
GPA, above 4 of the 51 other docs and wiki tools we grade
Document360 is hosted knowledge base software for customer help centers, internal knowledge bases, SOPs and API documentation. Writers work in a Markdown or WYSIWYG editor with revision history, review workflows and reusable snippets, and its Eddy AI adds a writing agent, AI search and an MCP server. Prices are not published: each customer gets a quote based on its setup.
To get you started, here are 8 things to know about Document360, taken from its own pages and our grades.
- 1
Best for customer help centres with review workflows
Look elsewhere if you want to try before you talk to sales.
- 2
You can try it first
Free trial started by booking a live demo; the site does not state how long it lasts
- 3
It runs on Web
Web, with a browser extension too.
- 4
Markdown and WYSIWYG editors
Articles are written in a Markdown editor or an advanced WYSIWYG editor, and revision history tracks every change so an earlier version can be restored.
- 5
Public and private projects
A project is a complete knowledge base with its own users, custom domain and branding. Private projects are read by people who log in with reader accounts.
- 6
Eddy AI
The AI features include a writing agent that drafts articles from prompts, videos and files, conversational search that cites its sources, glossary generation and an MCP server.
- 7
A 2.2 GPA, above 4 of 51
That is against the other docs and wiki tools we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.
- 8
Keep it
To replace Document360 you would be making a search engine with an AI model behind it. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card
Best for customer help centres with review workflows
Document360 is a hosted knowledge base for customer help centers, internal handbooks and API docs, with review workflows and an AI that drafts articles and answers questions. There isn't a single price on its site: every plan is a quote, the AI chatbot and Premium Suite are add-ons on top, and even the free trial starts with booking a demo. Look elsewhere if you want to try before you talk to sales.
| Subject | Grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C | There isn't a price anywhere on the site. Every plan is a custom quote worked out from team accounts, workspaces, languages, security needs and AI usage, and the AI chatbot and Premium Suite are add-ons on top of that. With nothing published, there's nothing to set against the $15-a-month middle. |
| Free plan and trial | D | No free plan, and the only way in is to book a live demo: that's how the free trial starts, and the site never says how long it runs. A trial you have to ask a salesperson for is barely a trial. |
| Features | B | Markdown and WYSIWYG editors with revision history, public and private knowledge bases side by side on their own domains, a workflow builder for review cycles, analytics on searches and reader feedback, and Eddy AI drafting articles and citing sources. The job is covered, with the chatbot sold separately. |
| Ease of use | C | No store rating on record. It's hosted, so there's no server to run, and writers choose between Markdown and WYSIWYG, but you can't sign up and poke around — it starts with a booked demo — and there are projects, domains and review workflows to set up. |
| Platforms and integrations | B | A web app with a Chrome extension for searching articles, a Customer API of more than 180 endpoints with OAuth 2.0, and Zendesk, Freshdesk, Intercom, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce, GitHub and Zapier connected. No desktop or mobile apps are listed. |
An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.
Who Document360 is for
- Fits if you're a software company publishing a help center for customers
- Works for teams needing a public knowledge base and a private one side by side, with review workflows
Who it is not for
- Skip it if you want to see a price before talking to sales, because none are published
- Not for you if you want to sign up and try it tonight, as the trial starts with a booked demo and has no stated length
- Pricey if you want the AI chatbot or the AI Premium Suite, which are add-ons to whatever you're quoted
- Skip it if you want a desktop or phone app; it's the browser plus a Chrome extension
Good to know
Good for
- Software companies publishing a customer-facing help center
- Teams running public and private knowledge bases side by side
- Technical writers who want review workflows and revision history
Worth knowing
- Document360 publishes no prices: every plan is a custom quote based on team accounts, workspaces, languages, security needs and AI usage.
- The free trial is started by booking a live demo, and the site does not say how long the trial lasts.
- The AI chatbot and the AI Premium Suite (screen capture, step-by-step guides, interactive demos and video recording) are listed as add-ons.
- The site lists no desktop or mobile apps; the product runs in a browser, with a Chrome extension for searching articles.

Keep it, or make your own?
Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.
Keep it
To replace Document360 you would be making a search engine with an AI model behind it. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 39 of the 51 other docs and wiki tools grade higher.
What you could make
- Wiki, Markdown and templates: an app builder makes these well.
What you could not
- A search engine with an AI model behind it.
- It plugs into other products, Zendesk, Freshdesk and Intercom among them, and has an API.
- The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.
What this rests on. Document360’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
