Part 01 · Overview

Welcome

What it is, who it suits, its grades and the ten things to know first

1.8

GPA, above 0 of the 15 other field service apps we grade

ServiceTitan is field service management software for residential and commercial trades such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing and pest control. It covers call booking, dispatch, a pricebook, mobile estimates, invoicing, memberships, payroll and reporting, with a field app for technicians. It is priced per technician in three packages, and prices are quoted only after a demo.

To get you started, here are 7 things to know about ServiceTitan, taken from its own pages and our grades.

Getting started also means a demo and a package fitted by sales.
From our grade for ease of use
  1. 1

Best for established HVAC and plumbing firms with an office

ServiceTitan is the heavyweight for HVAC, plumbing and electrical firms with office staff, covering call booking, dispatch, memberships, payroll and which ads bring in calls.

  2. 2

    It runs on 3 platforms

    Web, iOS and Android.

  3. 3

    Call booking and dispatch

Office staff book jobs from incoming calls, which are recorded, and a drag-and-drop dispatch board assigns technicians and tracks them en route.

  4. 4

    Pricebook and mobile estimates

Technicians build estimates on site from a shared pricebook, with automated checklists that prompt them through each stage of a job.

  5. 5

    Memberships and invoicing

Sell and track customizable maintenance memberships, invoice from the field, take payments and offer customers financing.

  6. 6

    A 1.8 GPA, above 0 of 15

That is against the other field service apps we grade, on value, the free plan, features, ease of use and platforms.

  7. 7

    Keep it

To replace ServiceTitan you would be making phone numbers that change for each visitor so every call is traced to its source. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

The report card

Best for established HVAC and plumbing firms with an office

ServiceTitan is the heavyweight for HVAC, plumbing and electrical firms with office staff, covering call booking, dispatch, memberships, payroll and which ads bring in calls. A three-person crew is probably not who it's for: there's no price, no trial, buying starts with a sales demo, and the technician app rates poorly.

ToolGPA report cardServiceTitanGraded Oct 18, 2026
SubjectGradeComment
Value for moneyCNo price is published: Starter, Essentials and The Works are priced per technician after a demo, so there's no figure for a crew of three. With nothing to compare, that's a C by our rule, and AI, contact centre and fleet tools cost extra on top.
Free plan and trialFNo free plan, no free trial and no self-serve sign-up. Buying starts with a sales demo, so there's no way to try it on your own.
FeaturesBCall booking with recording, a dispatch board, a shared pricebook, on-site estimates, memberships, invoicing, payroll, commissions and ad tracking that ties spend to revenue, plus an offline field app. The whole job and then some.
Ease of useDThe ServiceTitan Field app averages 3.46 from 5,310 App Store ratings, the lowest in this category, with 1,657 one-star ratings. Getting started also means a demo and a package fitted by sales.
Platforms and integrationsBWeb, iPhone and Android, with QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Xero, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Acumatica, Viewpoint Vista and Sage 50. A strong list, but no desktop app.
Grade point averageWeak, out of 4.01.8

An A is worth 4 points, a B 3, a C 2, a D 1 and an F nothing. The GPA is the average of the five.

Who ServiceTitan is for

  • Great if you run an HVAC or plumbing firm with office staff and several technicians
  • Handy when you sell maintenance memberships and pay techs on commission
  • Good for companies that keep their books in NetSuite, Sage Intacct or Acumatica

Who it is not for

  • Skip it if you want to see a price or try it before you talk to sales
  • Not for you if you're a small crew wanting something you can set up yourself this week
  • Pricey if you also want AI agents, a contact centre or fleet tracking, which are sold on top of a package

Good to know

Good for

  • HVAC, plumbing and electrical companies with office staff and several technicians
  • Businesses that sell maintenance memberships and track technician commissions
  • Commercial and construction contractors that need accounting system links

Worth knowing

  • No prices are published: the Starter, Essentials and The Works packages are priced per technician after a demo request.
  • There is no free trial or self-serve sign-up; buying starts with a sales demo.
  • AI agents, contact center, fleet and marketing tools are sold as separate Pro products on top of a package.

Part 03 · Features

What it does

Its main features, where it runs, what it works with and who makes it

3

Places it runs: Web, iOS and Android

Field service platform for residential and commercial trades. Here is what it does, as its own site describes it, and what it covers: invoicing, reports, job scheduling, quotes and estimates, call tracking.

Call booking and dispatch
Office staff book jobs from incoming calls, which are recorded, and a drag-and-drop dispatch board assigns technicians and tracks them en route.
Pricebook and mobile estimates
Technicians build estimates on site from a shared pricebook, with automated checklists that prompt them through each stage of a job.
Memberships and invoicing
Sell and track customizable maintenance memberships, invoice from the field, take payments and offer customers financing.
Payroll, commissions and reports
Payroll management and commission tracking sit beside reports on closing rates, booked jobs and each technician's results; The Works adds configurable payroll.
Marketing attribution
Campaign tracking ties ad spend to the calls and revenue it brings in, so you can see which ads pay for themselves.
Offline field app
A native iOS and Android app for phones and tablets works offline, so technicians can run jobs, estimates and payments without signal.

Part 04 · Standing

Where it stands

Its grades against its category, and whether to keep it or make your own

0/15

Other field service apps it is graded above

ServiceTitan's GPA of 1.8 is higher than 0 of the 15 other field service apps we grade, and level with 1.

It stands best on features (B, above 7 of 15) and worst on free plan and trial (F, above 0).

Each grade against the category

Every bar is all 16 field service apps we grade, cut by the letter each got. ServiceTitan’s own letter is outlined.

  • CValue for moneyAbove 2 of 15

  • BPlatforms and integrationsAbove 0 of 15

Keep it, or make your own?

Whether this is something you could build for yourself with an AI app builder, and what you would give up.

Keep it

To replace ServiceTitan you would be making phone numbers that change for each visitor so every call is traced to its source. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.

That makes this kind of software worth paying for, not this one in particular: 14 of the 15 other field service apps grade higher.

What you could make

  • Job scheduling, quotes and estimates, invoicing and reports: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Phone numbers that change for each visitor so every call is traced to its source.
  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • It plugs into other products, QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop and Xero among them.
  • The depth: we grade its features B, which means it covers the whole job.

What this rests on. ServiceTitan’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
