Schema Markup Validator review (2026): is it any good?
Free schema.org checker for any structured data on a page or snippet
Schema Markup Validator report card
Good · out of 4.0 · graded Oct 23, 2026
Best for checking schema.org markup is well formed
The Schema Markup Validator checks the structured data on a page or in a pasted snippet against every schema.org type, for free and with no account. But it won't tell you whether a page qualifies for Google rich results, it tests one URL or snippet per run with no crawl or saved history, and a community project runs it, not a company offering support.
Who Schema Markup Validator is for
- Fits if you're a developer checking that schema.org markup is well formed
- Works for sites using structured data for engines and apps other than Google
Who Schema Markup Validator is not for
- Skip it if you want to know about Google rich results, which need Google's Rich Results Test
- Too light for a whole site, as it checks one URL or snippet per run
- Not for you if you want saved history or scheduled checks, as the page offers neither
- Watch out: it's hosted by the schema.org community project, not a company selling support
Why Schema Markup Validator gets a 2.8

What is Schema Markup Validator?
The Schema Markup Validator is a free tool from the schema.org project that checks the structured data embedded in a web page, or in a pasted code snippet, against the schema.org vocabulary. It replaced Google's old Structured Data Testing Tool, which moved to the schema.org community by April 2021, and it validates all schema.org types without checking for Google's rich results.
Worth knowing
- Does not tell you whether a page qualifies for Google rich results; Google's Rich Results Test does that.
- Tests one URL or one snippet per run; the page offers no site crawl, scheduling or saved history.
- Hosted by the schema.org project, a community effort founded by Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Yandex, not a company selling support.
Key features
- Fetch a URL
- Enter a page address and the validator fetches the page and checks the structured data embedded in it.
- Test a code snippet
- Paste markup into the editor to check it before it is published, and rerun the test after each change.
- Any schema.org type
- Checks syntax and compliance with schema.org standards for every type in the vocabulary, not only the ones Google uses for rich results.
- No Google-specific warnings
- Google describes it as validating schema.org data without Google feature-specific warnings, which its Rich Results Test covers instead.
- Interface in many languages
- The validator's interface can be switched between dozens of languages, including Japanese, German, Hindi, Arabic and Spanish.
