|---|---|---|
| Value for money | BFelo Pro is $12.50 a month billed annually, which is $149.99 in one go, or $14.99 monthly. About typical. It buys 15,000 credits a month, the full model lineup, AI Slides and the API. Run out of credits and slides, images and video pause until you buy more. | BStarter is $5 a month, or $54 a year, for 300 searches and up to 300 AI interactions on standard models. Cheap, and a search engine comes with it. But premium models and Research mode need Ultimate at $25 a month. A month you don't use at all is credited back, which is decent of them. |
| Free plan and trial | AHigh-speed search is free and unlimited, with 200 credits every day plus 5 professional searches and 3 file analyses a day. If answers are all you want, you could stay here. AI Slides, custom agents, video and the API are left out. | CNo free plan. The Free Trial is a one-time pot of 100 searches and 100 Assistant interactions on standard models, and it doesn't refill. The listing doesn't say a card is needed. After that it's $5 a month or nothing. |
| Features | AAnswers with numbered sources, drawn from pages in other languages, a research agent that writes a report, and file analysis for Word and PDF files up to 25 MB. It builds editable slide decks, mind maps and web pages, and LiveDoc lays it all out on one canvas. | AModels from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, Meta and DeepSeek, switchable mid-thread, with a toggle for web access through Kagi Search. Upload PDFs, spreadsheets, images and audio, save custom assistants, and on Ultimate run Research mode with a Python interpreter and Wolfram|Alpha. |
| Ease of use | BType a question, get an answer with footnotes. That part's simple. The credit sums are less so: a research task costs 150 credits, and slides are charged per page. There's no App Store rating on record for it, so a B at best. | BIt lives next to the search box: sign in, pick a model, ask. There's no rating on record for a web app, so a B at best. One trap to know about: threads delete themselves after 24 hours of inactivity unless you set them to permanent. |
| Platforms and integrations | AWeb, iPhone, iPad, Android and a Chrome extension, and Pro adds API access to its models. The site lists no desktop app, so on a computer it lives in the browser. | CA web app, and the listing shows no phone or desktop app for it. What it plugs into is Kagi's own search, plus Wolfram|Alpha inside Research mode. Nothing on the listing says it connects to your other tools. |
| Best for | AI search across languages, with sources | an AI assistant that comes with your search engine |

Who each one suits
Felo
- Researching topics whose best sources are in another language
- Turning search results into slide decks, mind maps or reports
- People who want search, several AI models and an API on one plan
Kagi Assistant
- Kagi Search subscribers who want an assistant on the same plan
- People who want several model developers without separate subscriptions

Worth knowing
Felo
- The free plan allows 5 professional searches and 3 file analyses a day, and leaves out AI Slides, custom agents, video generation and API access.
- When Pro credits run out, slides, images and video pause until more credits are bought; search continues at up to 300 Pro searches a day.
- The US App Store lists in-app subscriptions at $20.99 a month and $214.99 a year, above the prices on the website.
- Beyond the browser there are iPhone, iPad and Android apps and a Chrome extension; the site lists no desktop app.
Kagi Assistant
- Kagi Assistant is not sold on its own: it comes with a Kagi Search subscription, and the plans listed are Kagi's plans.
- Premium models and Research mode are limited to Ultimate at $25 per month. Other plans use standard models and Quick mode.
- Usage is capped by value: the plan price sets the token allowance, and AI interactions stop until the next billing cycle once it is used up.
- The free Trial is a one-time allowance of 100 searches and 100 AI interactions and does not renew.
Key features
Felo
- Cross-language search with sources
- Ask in your own language and Felo searches sources written in others, then writes one answer with numbered footnotes that link to each source. Related images and videos appear alongside.
- Professional search and research agent
- Professional Search looks at a question from several angles and may ask follow-ups. The research agent runs multi-step searches and writes a report, at 150 credits per task.
- AI Slides and generated documents
- Builds an editable slide deck from a topic, file or link, and also produces mind maps, web pages and business documents. Slide generation costs credits per page and is not on the free plan.
- LiveDoc canvas
- A canvas workspace where search results, documents, slides, tables, web pages and images sit side by side, and AI agents can read everything placed on it.
- File analysis
- Upload TXT, Word or PDF files of up to 25 MB to question or summarize. Free accounts get 3 analyses a day with 1 file per question; Pro allows 10 files per question and keeps files permanently.
- Model lineup, Playground and API
- Pro opens text, image, video and audio models from several providers, an LLM Playground for chatting with them, and API access to the same models through openapi.felo.ai.
Kagi Assistant
- Many models, one subscription
- Pick from models by OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, Meta, DeepSeek and others, and switch model in the middle of a thread. Premium models are limited to the Ultimate plan.
- Web access through Kagi Search
- A toggle controls whether the Assistant searches the web. Its searches can apply your Kagi Lenses and personalized results, and pasted URLs are fetched as context.
- Quick and Research modes
- Quick answers within seconds on every plan. Research, on Ultimate, plans multi-step work with up to about 15 tool calls, including a Python interpreter, image generation and Wolfram|Alpha.
- Custom assistants
- Save assistants that combine a chosen model, custom instructions and web access settings, and open built-in ones such as Code, Study and News with bangs from the search box.
- File uploads
- Upload text, PDF, DOCX, PPTX, spreadsheets, images and audio as context, up to 30 MB in total. Uploaded content stays in the thread for later messages.
- Thread retention and privacy
- Threads are deleted after 24 hours of inactivity unless set to permanent. Kagi says data is not used to train models and no account information is shared with model providers.
