Value for money
C$12 a month if you pay for the year is okay. $30 a month if you don't is a lot for a grammar checker, and LanguageTool costs less.
BEditor Plus starts at $8.33 a month billed annually, which is $100 a year and about typical for a writing tool. The plan toggle advertises a $200 saving over paying monthly, so month to month costs a lot more. The desktop app is $19.99 once.
Free plan and trial
BFree for as long as you like, with spelling, grammar, tone detection and 100 AI prompts a month. Rewrites are Pro only, and reviewers say it nags you to upgrade.
AThe web editor is free and does what Hemingway is known for: highlights for hard-to-read sentences, passive voice and weak wording, plus a readability grade. Most people could stay here. Grammar fixes and AI rewrites need Plus, which has a 2-week trial with no card.
Features
ASpelling, grammar and tone, sentence rewrites, AI drafting, plus plagiarism and AI-text checks. Docs adds helpers that find citations. That's a lot for a checker.
BIt's focused on clarity and does that well: yellow and red highlights for complex sentences, flags for adverbs and passive voice, and a target reading level. Plus adds grammar fixes, tone changes and document reviews. But AI rewrites stop at 5,000 or 10,000 sentences a month.
Ease of use
A4.7 from about 225,000 App Store ratings. Install it, type as normal and click what it underlines. That's the whole lesson.
BThere's no App Store rating on record, so a B is as high as we go. The free editor runs in a browser, the highlights are colour-coded, and each type of highlight can be hidden.
Platforms and integrations
AWindows, Mac, four browsers, iPhone, iPad and Android. It works inside Gmail, Google Docs, Word, Outlook and Slack. No Linux app, though.
BA web editor plus a desktop app for Mac and Windows that works offline and publishes to WordPress. But the desktop app is a separate purchase without the AI features, and the listing has no phone app or browser extension.

AI sentence rewrites
