What is Wordtune?

Wordtune is an AI writing assistant from AI21 Labs that suggests other ways to phrase a word, sentence or paragraph, fixes spelling and grammar, and shifts text between casual and formal tones. It also summarizes documents, web pages and YouTube videos and can generate text that continues a draft. It runs as a web editor, as Chrome and Edge extensions and as an iPhone app, and it writes in English only.

Wordtune has a free plan. Paid plans start at $6.99 per month, billed annually (Advanced). See every plan

Good for

  • Non-native English speakers polishing emails and messages
  • Rephrasing sentences inside Gmail, Google Docs and other web apps
  • Students and researchers who want short summaries of articles and videos

Worth knowing

  • Wordtune writes in English only; other languages are supported only as input to translate into English.
  • Basic stops at 10 rewrites a day and 3 summaries a month, and Advanced is still capped at 30 a day and 15 a month. Only Unlimited removes the caps.
  • The site lists a web editor, Chrome and Edge extensions and an iPhone app. No Mac, Windows or Android app is listed.
  • Wordtune does not offer refunds, and the 3-day trial needs payment details up front.
