3.0GPA

Very good · out of 4.0 · graded Oct 18, 2026

Best for cross-border businesses that want no monthly fee

Aspire is a finance platform for businesses that work across borders: a US account with free ACH, wire and check payments, accounts in 13 currencies, virtual cards with 1.5% cashback, bills, budgets and expense claims. There's no monthly fee at all, since Aspire charges on currency conversion and SWIFT transfers. The listing only shows virtual cards, though.

Who Aspire is for

  • Great if you run a US company from another country
  • Handy when you pay suppliers and staff in several currencies
  • Good for small teams that want cards and expense claims with no monthly fee

Who Aspire is not for

  • Not for you if your staff need physical cards, as the listing shows virtual ones only
  • Tight if you'd rather not settle the charge card in full every day

Why Aspire gets a 3.0

Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.

  • AValue for moneyFree and substantial. A ten-person company pays $0 a month, with no plan fee for any number of team members and no charge on US ACH, wire or check payments. It earns on conversion, from 0.22% over mid-market, and on SWIFT at $5 or $15.
  • AFree plan and trialFree outright. The one Basic plan has no monthly fee and covers the US account, 13 currency accounts, virtual cards, bills, budgets, claims, invoices and accounting sync for the whole team.
  • CFeaturesAccounts, bills, budgets, invoices and expense claims are all here. But the listing shows virtual cards only, a gap for staff who pay in person, and its charge card must be paid in full every day.
  • CEase of useNo store rating on record. There's a business account to open, cards to issue and Xero or QuickBooks to connect before it runs itself.
  • BPlatforms and integrationsWeb, iPhone and Android, syncing card payments, claims and receipts to Xero, QuickBooks and NetSuite. No desktop app or API is listed.

Keep Aspire, or make your own?

Keep it

Aspire is free, so making your own would save you nothing.

And it is not the kind of software a weekend replaces. It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.0 is higher than 9 of the 13 other spend and bill pay tools we grade.

What you could make

  • Expense tracking and invoicing: an app builder makes these well.

What you could not

  • Cards issued through a bank.
  • Money moved between bank accounts, which takes a licensed payments partner.
  • A real app for iOS and Android. Something home-made would be a web page.
  • AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.

What this rests on. Aspire’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
