Path Finder

Dual-pane file manager for Mac, built as a Finder alternative

Free trial · from $2.95/moUtilitiesChecked Oct 6, 2026

What is Path Finder?

Path Finder is a file manager for macOS from Cocoatech, positioned as a more capable alternative to Apple's Finder. It adds a dual-pane browser, a Drop Stack for holding files during copy and move operations, batch renaming, folder comparison and synchronization, and views that show which files take up space. It runs natively on Apple Silicon. After a 30-day free trial it is sold as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a license key for a fixed term of one, two or five years.

Path Finder is a paid product with a free trial, starting at $2.95 per month (subscription), or $29.95 per year. See every plan

Good for

  • Mac users who find Finder limiting and want two panes
  • People who copy and move many files between folders or drives
  • Buyers who want to choose between a subscription and a non-renewing license key

Worth knowing

  • macOS only; the site describes no Windows, Linux or mobile version.
  • There is no perpetual license: subscriptions renew monthly or yearly, and license keys run for a fixed 1, 2 or 5 years, after which updates end.
  • The homepage says older builds can still be run after a plan expires, while the terms of service grant use only for the term of the subscription or license.
  • Subscriptions include 2 activations and more can be bought. A license key covers 3 computers and cannot have activations added.
