Best for timing Pinterest content to what's rising

Pinterest Trends is Pinterest's free tool for seeing how searches and saves for a keyword moved over up to two years, by region, with demographics and some predictions. It shows a 0 to 100 index, not search counts, and covers Pinterest only. History stops at about two years, some features are in testing in certain regions, and there's no view inside the Pinterest app.

Who Pinterest Trends is for

  • Fits if you plan Pins around the seasons and want to see when interest starts rising
  • Works for a shop or advertiser checking which product categories are growing on Pinterest

Who Pinterest Trends is not for

  • Skip it if your customers aren't on Pinterest, as that's all it covers
  • Not for you if you need search counts, since it shows a 0 to 100 index
  • Tight if you want long history, as it goes back about two years
  • Watch out: audience trends need a large enough following, and a new business account must be made on a desktop
  • Watch out: some features are in testing in certain regions only, and it doesn't open in the Pinterest app

Keep Pinterest Trends, or make your own?

Keep it

Pinterest Trends is free, so making your own would save you nothing.

And it is not the kind of software a weekend replaces. It is one of the better ones too: its GPA of 3.0 is higher than 48 of the 51 other keyword research tools we grade.

What you could not

  • Search volumes for millions of keywords, gathered and kept up to date.
  • A library of papers and sources to search.

What this rests on. Pinterest Trends’s listing: what it does, where it runs, what it plugs into and what it costs. It is a judgement about the kind of software this is. We have not built a replacement for it, and making your own means looking after it too. How we decide, and every tool’s verdict.
