Worth knowing
NanoGPT
- The free allowance is a single model on the web; everything else needs a prepaid balance or the Pro plan.
- Pro's weekly allowance covers only the models included in the subscription; others, such as Claude Opus 5.5, are still billed per use.
- Pinning a specific provider by hand adds 5%, and bring-your-own-key requests are billed at 5% of the normal model cost.
- Access is through the website and the API; the pricing page mentions no desktop or mobile apps.
Venice
- The Free plan stops at 10 text and 15 image prompts a day and leaves out document uploads, image understanding and custom system prompts.
- Third-party models run in Anonymized mode: Venice hides your identity, but the provider may still process prompts under its own policies.
- TEE and end-to-end encrypted models need a paid plan, and E2EE mode turns off web search and memory.
- Chat history stays in one browser or device unless you use an encrypted backup or a shared link, and no desktop app is listed.
Key features
NanoGPT
- Hundreds of models in one place
- The model directory lists 641 text, 224 image, 183 video, 98 audio and 13 3D models, including ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini, all used from one chat interface and one balance.
- Per-use billing at list prices
- Text models are billed at the provider's list price per million tokens with no markup, and deposits carry no percentage fee. Each API response reports the exact cost charged.
- OpenAI-compatible API
- The API follows OpenAI's chat completions and Responses formats and Anthropic's Messages format, and also covers images, video, audio, embeddings, web search and batch jobs.
- No stored prompts by default
- Prompt and conversation content is not kept on NanoGPT's servers unless you turn on sync or sharing, and the service can be used in an anonymous session with no account.
- Card and crypto payments
- A balance can be started from $1 by card or $0.10 in cryptocurrency. Selected API endpoints also accept accountless crypto payments with no API key.
- TEE-backed models
- Some models run in trusted execution environments, and the API returns attestation reports and request signatures so that this can be verified.
Venice
- Many models in one app
- Text, image, video and audio models from providers such as OpenAI, Google, DeepSeek, Mistral, Meta and Black Forest Labs, plus Claude and Grok models, sit behind one account.
- Four privacy modes
- Each model shows its mode: Anonymized (identity hidden from the provider), Private (prompts not retained), TEE (run in a secure hardware enclave) or E2EE (encrypted on your device).
- Local conversation history
- Chats are stored in your browser or on your device, not on Venice's servers. Paid plans add encrypted chat backup and restore.
- Image, video and audio generation
- Generates, edits and upscales images, and creates video, music and speech with models such as Kling, Runway and Veo. Video and music are paid for with credits.
- Web search
- Brings current results into answers through Brave with zero data retention or anonymized Google search. Web search is included on the Free plan and is disabled in E2EE mode.
- OpenAI-compatible API
- One key covers text, image, video, music and speech models, with function calling and web search. API calls are metered in credits, separately from the app's plan limits.
