How we grade them

4.0GPABitwardenExcellent3.4GPANordPassVery good
Value for money
APremium is $1.65 a month, billed as $19.80 a year. That's a little over half the $2.99 or so that password managers typically start at. Families covers up to 6 people for $3.99 a month.
BA 12-month plan is $31.99 to $35.99 on the US App Store, so close to $3 a month, which is what password managers typically start at. The 1-month plan is $4.99. The listing says little about what Premium adds beyond file attachments.
Free plan and trial
AFree for good, with unlimited logins, passkeys, notes and cards on unlimited devices. Most people could stay here. What you don't get is file attachments, the built-in authenticator and emergency access.
BThere's a free plan that stores, generates and autofills passwords and passkeys. Its limits aren't spelled out in our listing, though. An outside review says it skips weak-password checks and breach scanning.
Features
APasswords, passkeys, autofill, a password and username generator, and Send, which shares a secret by a link that disappears. Premium adds two-factor codes and 5 GB of encrypted attachments. You can even run it on your own server.
AAutofill and autosave for logins, cards and personal details, passkeys, a Password Health check, a Data Breach Scanner, email masking and an authenticator for one-time codes. That's the whole job and a bit more.
Ease of use
A4.8 from about 33,500 App Store ratings. Sign up free and your logins fill in across your devices. Running your own server is optional, and most people will never go near it.
A4.7 from about 13,000 App Store ratings. It saves a login as you make it and fills it in with a click, and you can unlock with your face or fingerprint.
Platforms and integrations
AWeb, Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, Android and a browser extension. Business plans add directory sync, SCIM and single sign-on. No common device is left out.
BMac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, Android and a browser extension, so every device is covered. But the listing shows no integrations and no API, which keeps it at a B.
