Remote access and IT support, free for personal use only

TeamViewer report card
Good · out of 4.0 · graded Oct 18, 2026
Best for helping family for free, or paid IT support
TeamViewer is the name most people know: free for helping your mum or reaching your own PC, with apps for every computer and phone and ties to ServiceNow, Jira and Intune. Work use is another story. The only dollar price we could read is Business at $619.99 a year for one user, and phones need a paid add-on.
Who TeamViewer is for
- Great if you're the one the family calls when the computer plays up
- Handy when your help desk already lives in ServiceNow, Jira or Intune
- Good for a small business with up to 200 machines to look after unattended
Who TeamViewer is not for
- Pricey if you're a one-person IT shop, as Business is $619.99 a year
- Skip it if you need to control iPhones or iPads, which only share their screen
- Not for you if your use is really work and you want it free, as the free version is personal only
Why TeamViewer gets a 2.6
Five grades, each with its reason. The GPA is their average: an A is 4 points, an F is none.
- DValue for money$619.99 a year for Business, one licensed user and up to 200 managed devices, is the only dollar price on record: it's the in-app purchase on the US App Store. For one technician doing the same job, Zoho Assist, Splashtop and LogMeIn Resolve's Starter all cost less. Its other plans couldn't be read in dollars.
- BFree plan and trialFree for personal use, with no cap on record for helping friends and family or reaching your own computers, phones and tablets. That's a plan one person can live on. Any work use needs a licence, which you can trial for 14 days.
- CFeaturesAttended and unattended access, file transfer, remote printing, Wake-on-LAN, black screen, session recording and AI summaries. The gaps it lists itself: phones and tablets need a paid add-on, iPhones and iPads only share their screen, and Business allows one connection at a time.
- BEase of use4.67 from 44,790 App Store ratings, just short of our A line. The person at the other end accepts and you're in, so there's not much to learn.
- APlatforms and integrationsWeb, Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone and Android, with an API and connections to Intune, ServiceNow, Jira, Salesforce, Zendesk, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet. That's everything we look for.

Keep TeamViewer, or make your own?
Keep it
To replace TeamViewer you would be making a fast, secure link to another computer through any network. That is not a weekend's work, with an AI app builder or without one.
It costs $619.99 a year.
What you could not
- A fast, secure link to another computer through any network.
- Apps for macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS and Android that stay in step with each other.
- It plugs into other products, Microsoft Intune, ServiceNow and Freshworks among them, and has an API.
- End-to-end encryption done properly.
- AI features, unless you pay a model provider for each request yourself.
- Sharing with other people, which means accounts and invitations.
