| Value for money | BPro is $17 a month billed annually, or $20 monthly, for 2,000 credits, frontier models and a 2-core sandbox with 50 GB of storage. That's about typical here. Plus is $42 and Max $167 on the annual plan. There are no separate API keys to pay for. | AIt costs nothing. OpenClaw is MIT licensed, with no paid version and no hosted tier to be sold up to. You do pay for the AI model, billed by whichever provider you connect. Local models through Ollama or LM Studio work too. |
| Free plan and trial | BFree every month, but small: 250 credits and a basic sandbox, with Claude access and basic models through skills. Frontier models, Automations and Capy Mail all start at Pro. | AThe whole product is free: the Gateway, the desktop and phone apps, the chat channels and the plugins. Nothing is held back. You bring the machine and your own model access. |
| Features | BAgents browse, handle files and run code in a cloud sandbox while you watch, and skills add research, slides, websites and video. You can start a task by email. But Automations are still labelled beta and capped at 3 on Pro, and only GitHub and Notion are listed as integrations. | AIt browses the web, fills in forms, reads and writes files and runs shell commands, in a sandbox if you'd rather. It remembers people and projects between chats, answers on 29 channels, and runs jobs on a schedule or when a webhook fires. It can even write its own skills. |
| Ease of use | BIt runs in the browser with the models already included, so there are no API keys to sort out and no terminal to open. There's no rating on record to go by, so a B. | DYou host it yourself. There's no hosted service, so you install, run and update the Gateway on your own computer or server. The desktop apps do install it for you, which helps. You still bring your own model access. |
| Platforms and integrations | AWeb, iPhone and Android, with connections to GitHub and Notion and its own email address through Capy Mail. It can also hook up to your own computer, though that part is for Macs only. | ADesktop apps for Mac, Windows and Linux, phone apps for iPhone and Android, and chat channels from WhatsApp to iMessage, plus Gmail and GitHub. One catch: the phone apps are companions, and need a Gateway running on another machine. |
| Best for | agents in a cloud computer, with no terminal | a free agent on your own hardware, reached by chat |

Key features
Happycapy
- Cloud sandbox
- Agents work in an isolated cloud sandbox, separate from your computer, where they browse the web, handle files and run code. You can watch each step and stop a task at any time.
- Skills and Skill Store
- Installable skills add abilities such as building websites, deep research, slides, images, video and games. You can also create your own or use open-source skills.
- Automations
- A scheduled prompt runs inside a Project daily or on an interval, using its files and context, then saves or sends the result. The feature is labeled beta.
- Capy Mail
- Each account gets an email address that can send and receive mail, so a task can be started by email and its results sent back. Only approved senders are processed.
- Many models, one subscription
- Models from several AI labs, including Claude, GPT, DeepSeek and Kimi along with image and video models, are included without separate API keys.
- Connect My Mac
- A connected Mac lets the agent read and save local files, run local scripts and CLI tools and use desktop apps, moving work between the sandbox and your machine.
OpenClaw
- Self-hosted Gateway
- One Gateway process on your own machine or server handles sessions, routing and channel connections. Desktop apps for macOS, Windows and Linux install it for you.
- Chat channels
- Message the agent from WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Signal, iMessage and other channels, 29 in all, in direct messages and group chats.
- Bring your own model
- Works with hosted providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI and Google, with gateways such as OpenRouter, and with local models through Ollama or LM Studio.
- Persistent memory
- Remembers preferences, projects and people from one conversation to the next, with state stored on your machine rather than in a vendor cloud.
- System access and sandboxing
- Can browse the web, fill in forms, read and write files and run shell commands, with a choice between full access and a sandbox.
- Skills, plugins and automation
- Skills and plugins extend the agent, and it can write its own skills. Cron jobs, hooks and webhooks run work on a schedule or in response to events.
