How we grade them

3.2GPA1PasswordVery good2.8GPALastPassGood
Value for money
B$3.99 a month on yearly billing isn't much, and Families covers five people for $5.99. But Bitwarden Premium is $1.65 and its free plan may be all you need, so you're paying extra for polish.
C$36 a year mostly buys what Bitwarden and Proton Pass give away: your passwords on phone and laptop together. Families at $4 a month for six is the better deal.
Free plan and trial
CThere's no free plan. You do get 14 days on any plan with no card needed. But Bitwarden and Proton Pass are free for good, so in this category that's thin.
BUnlimited passwords for nothing, and it never runs out. But you get one device type: computers or phones, not both. Bitwarden and Proton Pass have no such rule.
Features
AAutofill for logins, cards and two-factor codes, passkeys, Watchtower alerts for leaked passwords, sharing by a link that expires, and shared vaults. Developers get a command-line tool too.
APasskeys, sharing, emergency access, breach alerts and 1 GB for files, plus single sign-on on the business plans. On paper, nothing's missing.
Ease of use
B4.7 from about 42,000 App Store ratings, so most people get on with it. But reviewers who moved from version 7 to 8 found it harder, and some say autofill misses or it asks for the password too often.
C4.4 from about 57,000 App Store ratings, the lowest of the big names here. The gripes repeat: autofill getting in the way, and being logged out again and again.
Platforms and integrations
AMac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, Android and Apple Watch, with extensions for Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox and Brave. Business plans plug into Okta, Entra ID, OneLogin and Duo.
BWindows, Mac, iPhone, Android, Apple Watch, the web and five browsers. Linux only gets the browser extensions. Business plans plug into Okta and Google Workspace.
