Value for money
BThere's nothing to buy for Sheets on its own. A business gets it inside Google Workspace, from $7 a person a month on a one-year deal, with Gmail, Drive and Meet. Fair for the bundle. But Gemini in Sheets needs the $14 plan.
AYou can't buy it by itself, but WPS Pro+ covers the whole suite for $5.83 a month, billed $69.99 a year. That's well under the $9.99 this category typically starts at. Split a Sharing Plan with one other person and it's $41.99 each a year.
Free plan and trial
AFree with a Google Account, and it's the real spreadsheet. You can create, edit and share files, work in one with other people, go back to old versions and edit offline. Only some Gemini features are kept for paid plans.
AWPS Standard is free and Spreadsheet is in it, so most people could stay put. You live with limited template downloads and 1 GB of cloud space, and getting rid of the advertising is listed as a paid benefit.
Features
AEditing together, version history, pivot tables, charts, and connectors for Salesforce, HubSpot and QuickBooks. It edits Excel files as they are, though commenters say old macros don't carry over. A file stops at 20 million cells or 100 MB.
AIt opens and saves .xlsx, .xls and .csv, with more than 500 functions including XLOOKUP, LAMBDA and dynamic arrays. WPS AI writes and explains formulas, answers questions about your data with charts, and can tag or fill hundreds of rows at once. Co-editing comes with comments and version history.
Ease of use
A4.8 from about 1.9 million App Store ratings. On a computer you click a link and you're in the spreadsheet, with nothing to install. If you've used any spreadsheet before, the formulas and shortcuts will feel familiar.
BThere's no App Store rating on record for it, so a B is as high as we go. It works with the Excel files you already have, and you can describe a sum in plain language and let WPS AI write the formula.
Platforms and integrations
BAny computer browser, iPhone, iPad and Android, plus an API and data connectors. But there's no Windows or Mac app, offline on a computer needs Chrome or Edge with an extension, and reviewers say the phone app does far less than the browser.
