How we grade them

2.0GPAIgnitionFair2.0GPAPandaDocFair
Value for money
DGraded against its own alternatives. Solo is $39 a month billed yearly ($49 monthly) for 1 user and 20 active clients, and only for firms under $150,000 a year. That's two to three times PandaDoc's $19 or Better Proposals' $13 a user. Core is $99 for 3 users.
D$57 a month for three on Starter, billed yearly ($19 a head, $35 monthly), for unlimited documents but only 5 templates. What you'd pick PandaDoc for, pricing tables, auto reminders and analytics, needs Business: $147 a month for three, four times this category's middle.
Free plan and trial
CA 14-day free trial of every feature with no card needed, including up to $10,000 in fee-free payments. That's enough to send real proposals and collect a first payment. There's no free plan.
CFree eSign covers 5 documents a month, 2 recipients each and 5 templates, with no integrations. Fine for a freelancer now and then; a team sending 20 a month is past it in the first week. The 14-day Business trial allows 50 documents.
Features
CProposals with options, engagement letters, payment details taken at signing, then automatic invoicing and Xero or QuickBooks sync. It goes past proposal tools on billing, but signing is thin: 1 signer per proposal on Solo and Core, and other documents only from Pro.
CThe editor, Word import, Stripe payments and, on Business, quotes, pricing tables, approvals and analytics. That's a lot. But bulk send, forms and recipient verification are add-ons priced through sales, where plain signing apps include them.
Ease of use
CNo store rating on record. There's a services library to fill, engagement letter wording to settle and Xero or QuickBooks to connect before the first proposal goes out.
CThere's an iPhone app but no store rating on record. The editor does a lot, and there's real setting up before it pays off: templates, pricing tables and a content library to build.
Platforms and integrations
BWeb only, with Xero, QuickBooks Online and Slack on every plan, and Gusto, Karbon, Xero Practice Manager and Zapier from Pro. No phone or desktop app.
BWeb and iPhone, with HubSpot, Pipedrive, Microsoft Dynamics, Stripe, QuickBooks, Slack and Canva, Salesforce as an add-on, an API and links to ChatGPT and Claude. No Android or desktop app is listed.

Worth knowing

Ignition

  • Prices follow active clients, those with an accepted proposal still in its term: Solo covers 20, Core 50, Pro 350 and Pro+ 600, then $2 to $7 per extra client.
  • Payments carry fees: 2.5% + $0.30 for standard cards, 3.6% + $0.30 for Amex and premium cards, and 1% + $0.30 for ACH, capped at $5 plus 0.3% above $3,000.
  • Solo and Core allow 1 signer per proposal; signing documents other than proposals starts on Pro, with 500 a year, and is unlimited on Pro+.
  • Zapier and practice-software links start on Pro. The deals pipeline and online forms are $49 a month add-ons below Pro+ and Pro.

PandaDoc

  • Starter keeps the 5-template limit of the free plan; unlimited templates, pricing tables and analytics start at Business, $49 per user / month billed annually.
  • The Salesforce integration, bulk send, forms and recipient verification are paid add-ons priced through sales.
  • SSO, custom roles and webhooks need the Enterprise plan, which is priced through sales.
  • The free plan has no third-party integrations and limits each document to 2 recipients.
