How we grade them
| 2.6GPAOpenSignGood | 3.0GPAZoho SignVery good | |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | CTeams is $19.99 a user a month billed yearly ($39.99 monthly), so about $60 a month for three. That's the dearer end of this category, for shared templates and your own storage. The free cloud plan covers 20 documents a month if you can do without sharing; self-hosting doesn't count. | B$30 a month for three on Standard, billed yearly ($10 a head, $12 monthly), with 25 envelopes each a month, so 20 between you is easy. That's inside this category's cheapest quarter. Watch the credits: SMS, ID checks and integrations use them, bought on top. |
| Free plan and trial | AThe free cloud plan has unlimited signatures and templates, 14 field types, signing order and completion certificates, with no cap a normal person would reach. Automatic reminders and the API are the paid bits. | CThe free plan is one user and 5 envelopes a month, with workflows, reminders, the audit trail and the apps. Good for the odd document, not 20 a month. A 14-day trial with no card covers the Enterprise features. |
| Features | CTemplates, signing order, expiry dates, decline, sealed completion certificates, plus API, webhooks, Zapier and embedded signing on paid plans. The gaps: custom branding needs Enterprise, there's no mobile app, and payment requests are still listed as coming soon. | BSigning order, approvals, witnesses, delegated signing, AI field detection and signer checks from Standard, then bulk send, SignForms and payments on Enterprise. It signs with digital certificates too, including your own USB token. It covers the whole job. |
| Ease of use | CNo store rating on record. The cloud version is a web app with templates to set up; hosting it yourself means following the self-host guide and running a server. | B4.8 from about 870 App Store ratings. Very good, but short of the 1,000 ratings we need for an A. |
| Platforms and integrations | BWeb only, with Zapier, Dropbox and Gmail, and an API, webhooks and embedded signing on paid plans. No phone app yet, so it's web with integrations. | AWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, the widest spread in this category, with Zoho WorkDrive, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Box and WhatsApp Business, plus an API. |
| Best for | unlimited free e-signatures | per-user signing with digital certificates |
