Who each one suits

Fabric

  • People who want notes, files and bookmarks searchable in one place
  • Designers finding saved visual references by color or image
  • Freelancers and small teams sharing work with clients as published spaces

Sublime

  • Writers and designers collecting references across many media types
  • People who want to browse what others have saved on a theme
  • Bringing Kindle, Readwise, X and Instagram saves into one library

Worth knowing

Fabric

  • The pricing page lists only paid plans; a free plan is mentioned elsewhere on the site, but its limits are not published.
  • AI usage is metered and resets monthly, and going past a plan's allowance means buying top-ups.
  • The vendor does not offer refunds, although a plan can be cancelled at any time.
  • Desktop file sync works on macOS and Windows only, and the mobile app has no kanban or list view.

Sublime

  • The basic plan is described only as limited: the pricing page gives no numbers for cards, collections, canvases or search.
  • Paid plans are billed yearly ($75 or $100) or once ($400); the pricing page shows no monthly option.
  • Advanced privacy and the Kindle, X, Instagram, Readwise and Raycast integrations are listed under the paid plans.
  • Capture is through the web, a browser extension and an iOS app; no Android app is listed.

Key features

Fabric

Notes, files and links in one library
Stores notes, documents, PDFs, images, video, audio and saved links together, organized into spaces and folders or simply left for search to find.
Search by meaning, color or image
Finds items by description instead of file name, searches inside documents and audio or video transcripts, and matches images by color or by a reference image.
AI assistant and agents
The assistant answers from your own content with citations, and named agents run scheduled jobs: up to 10 on Pro and up to 50 on Max.
Meeting and voice notes
Records meetings and voice notes, transcribes them and keeps the key points. The desktop app detects when a meeting starts and offers to transcribe it.
Canvas, tasks and kanban
An infinite canvas lays out any saved content side by side, and tasks carry priorities, due dates and reminders, with a kanban view for tracking progress.
Cloud drive and publishing
The desktop app mounts Fabric as a drive and streams files on demand, and any space can be published as a link that needs no login to view.

Sublime

Cards for any kind of content
Websites, articles, highlights, images, videos, PDFs, podcasts, books, social posts and plain text are each saved as a card in one library.
Browser extension and highlighter
The extension saves images, articles and videos, highlights text on web pages and PDFs, and captures screenshots. It is offered for Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Arc, Brave and Opera.
Collections, private or public
Cards are organized into collections that can stay private or be shared. Other people's libraries can be followed, with no likes or comments.
Related ideas
Saving or entering an idea brings up related cards that other people have collected, so one saved item leads to others on the same theme.
Semantic search
Search works on context and loosely remembered details instead of exact keywords, and content is categorized automatically.
Canvas and exports
Canvas is an infinite whiteboard for arranging saved cards. Paid plans add MCP access for Claude and other LLMs, plus CSV and ZIP export.
