How we grade them
| 2.8GPAQuoGood | 2.6GPASalesmsgGood | |
|---|---|---|
| Value for money | C$15 a head for five on Starter, billed yearly ($19 monthly), just above this category's cheaper quarter ($14). Phone menus, transfers, automatic recording and CRM links need Business at $23. | CBasic is $21 a month billed yearly ($25 monthly) for 1 seat, 1 number and 500 credits, right at the dear end of what this category charges. Extra seats are $10 each, but they share the same credits, and 2,500 credits a month costs $84. |
| Free plan and trial | CA 7-day free trial, and Quo says it'll remind you before it ends. No free plan. | CA 14-day free trial, but a thin one: 25 credits on a temporary number, up to 10 contacts, and a "Salesmsg Trial:" watermark on outgoing texts. There's no free plan. |
| Features | BShared numbers with one call and text history, unlimited US and Canada calls and texts, the Sona AI agent, phone menus, ring orders, call summaries and an API. It covers the whole job across its plans. | CTexting is done fully, with a shared inbox, broadcasts, drips and AI agents, and calls get routing, recording and a power dialer. But it's built to sit beside a CRM rather than be your whole phone system, and every call minute burns the credits your texts need. |
| Ease of use | B4.4 from about 10,800 App Store ratings. Lots of people use it, and most seem to get on with it fine. | A4.7 from 1,644 App Store ratings. You get a temporary number the moment you sign up and can start texting straight away. |
| Platforms and integrations | AWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, with HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Slack, Zapier and Make, an API, and an MCP server for ChatGPT and Claude. | BWeb, iPhone and Android, with two-way HubSpot and Salesforce sync plus Pipedrive, ActiveCampaign, Keap, Calendly, Zapier and Slack. There's no desktop app, which keeps it off an A. |
| Best for | small teams sharing one business number | texting and calling leads from inside your CRM |

Worth knowing
Quo
- Texting US numbers requires carrier registration (TCR): a one-time $19.50 review fee plus $1.50 to $3 a month.
- On Starter, calls are recorded manually only, and phone menus, transfers and CRM integrations need Business or Scale.
- Each extra number costs $5 a month; calls and texts outside the US and Canada are billed per minute or per message.
- Sona calls beyond the plan's credits cost $0.45 to $1.00 each, depending on the credit tier.
Salesmsg
- Texts and calls share one credit pool: an SMS uses 1, an MMS 2, a call minute 1 and a forwarded minute 2. AI texting agents add 2 per message, and plan credits do not roll over.
- Extra seats cost $10 a month and extra numbers $5 a month; a US local number adds carrier 10DLC fees, including a $10 monthly campaign fee and $15 one-time verification.
- Basic and Pro differ mainly in their credit tiers; Basic tops out at 7,500 credits a month, and more needs Pro or Enterprise.
- The trial gives 25 credits on a temporary number, reaches up to 10 contacts, and adds a "Salesmsg Trial:" watermark to outgoing texts.
Key features
Quo
- Shared phone numbers
- Several teammates can share one number with a common call and text history, internal threads and shared contacts. Starter allows up to 10 users per shared number.
- Calling and texting
- Unlimited calls and texts to US and Canadian numbers under a fair use policy, with snippets, scheduled messages, auto-replies and group messages.
- Sona AI agent
- An AI agent that answers calls at any hour. Every plan includes 1,000 credits a month, enough for 10 calls; credit packs run from $25 to $199 a month.
- AI call summaries and transcripts
- Business and Scale transcribe and summarize every call. On Starter, summaries cover only calls Sona handles; voicemails are transcribed on all plans.
- Phone menus and routing
- Business adds phone menus, call transfers, group calls and ring orders that ring teammates in batches, plus business-hours forwarding.
- Integrations and API
- HubSpot and Salesforce need Business or Scale. Pipedrive, Slack, Zapier, Make, Google Contacts and the Quo API are also listed, plus an MCP server for ChatGPT and Claude.
Salesmsg
- Two-way texting and shared inbox
- Send and receive SMS and MMS from a computer or phone on a local or toll-free number, with shared team inboxes, scheduled messages and after-hours auto-replies.

- Inbound and outbound calls from the business number, recorded, transcribed and synced to the CRM, with round-robin or IVR routing and a power dialer for call lists.
- Broadcasts and drip campaigns
- One-off broadcasts, multi-step drips with ringless voicemail and delays, and sends timed to each contact's own dates, triggered from CRM events.
- CRM sync
- Native two-way sync with HubSpot and Salesforce logs texts, calls and AI summaries on the contact record; Pipedrive, ActiveCampaign and Keap also connect.
- AI agents
- A booking agent schedules meetings through Calendly, a calling agent answers calls when the team is offline, and an inbox agent replies to and routes common texts.
- HIPAA mode
- Turns on encryption, 2FA, session controls and audit logging; Salesmsg says it provides a BAA for qualifying accounts.
