|---|---|---|
| Value for money | A$39.99 a year, when a typical planner asks about $7.99 every month. That covers calendar sync, tasks, lists, meal planning, covers and stickers. Artful Plus is $49.99. It's annual only, and the US App Store shows the standard plan at $44.99 as well. | A$29.99 a year, or $3.99 a month, when a typical planner asks about $7.99 every month. That opens tasks, projects, contacts, email integration and Informant Sync on iOS and Android. The Mac app is a separate one-time $49.99, though, and the Outlook add-in for Windows another $29.99. |
| Free plan and trial | CNo free plan. New users get a free trial, which the App Store listing gives as two weeks, and our listing doesn't say whether it wants a card. After that it's $39.99 for the year. | BThe free version on iOS and Android is a basic calendar, using the calendars already on your device. No tasks, projects, contacts, sync or customisation. A trial of the full thing comes with the yearly subscription: 14 days by the vendor's site, 7 by the App Store. |
| Features | BThree calendars on monthly, weekly and daily pages, task lists that repeat, roll over and snooze, meal planning, a water tracker and custom lists. Solid, and nicely dressed. But Exchange calendars can't be synced, and the habit tracker and drawing mode need Artful Plus. | AEvents and tasks together in day, week and month views, projects with sub-tasks and checklists, three task styles including GTD, natural-language entry, templates, trips that set the time zone, and geofenced places that raise alerts when you arrive. That's the whole organiser, with depth. |
| Ease of use | A4.7 from about 15,300 App Store ratings. It's laid out like the paper agenda you already know: pick a cover, drag your tasks into order and cross them off. | B4.5 from about 6,100 App Store ratings, a B on our ladder. It reads your device's calendars and reminders, so iCloud, Exchange and Google show up without a new account. There's a lot in here to learn, mind. |
| Platforms and integrations | AWeb, Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad and Android, which is everywhere most people work. It syncs with Google Calendar, Apple iCloud and Outlook. Stylus drawing on iPad and Android tablets is a Plus feature. | AiPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and a web app, kept in step by the paid Informant Sync. It connects to Google Calendar, Google Tasks, Toodledo, Evernote and Outlook. No Windows app, only an Outlook add-in that also needs the sync subscription. |
| Best for | paper-planner fans who want stickers that sync | serious organisers who want calendar and tasks as one |

Key features
Artful Agenda
- Calendar sync
- Shows Google Calendar, Apple iCloud and Outlook calendars together in monthly, weekly and daily views, with repeating events and push reminders.
- Paper-planner styling
- Pick a cover design and a handwriting-style font, color code calendars and decorate pages with sticker packs. Some premium covers are sold in the app for $1.99.
- Tasks and priorities
- Monthly, weekly and daily task lists can be reordered by drag and drop and crossed off, with repeat, rollover and snooze options and task alarms.
- Daily page extras
- The day view includes meal planning, a water intake tracker and custom categories for tasks, notes or journaling, and it stays in step with the weekly and monthly views.
- Custom lists
- A lists section holds things like groceries, packing and gift ideas, with headings, check-off items and drag-and-drop ordering.
- Artful Plus tools
- The higher tier adds a habit tracker with streaks, uploads of your own sticker images, a saved color palette and stylus drawing on iPad and Android tablets.
Pocket Informant
- Calendar and tasks in one view
- Day, stacked-week and month views show events and tasks together. The month view prints each event's name and time in small text instead of a dot.
- Projects and task modes
- Tasks can be grouped into projects with sub-tasks and checklists, and the task system can be set to Simple, GTD or Franklin Covey style.
- Works with existing calendars
- Reads the device's native calendars and reminders, so iCloud, Exchange, Microsoft 365 and Google accounts appear without a new account. Direct Google and Toodledo sync needs the subscription.
- Natural-language entry
- Type or speak a phrase such as a task with a day and time and the entry is filled in. Templates and triggers create frequently used events and tasks.
- TravelAssist and geofences
- Trips set the time zone for events created during travel, and geofenced locations can filter the calendar or task list and raise arrival and departure alerts.
- Informant Sync
- A paid sync service that keeps iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and the web app in step, and connects to Outlook on Windows through a separate add-in.
